Timothy Blake Nelson (born May 11, 1964) is an American actor, playwright, and director. He is known for playing many different kinds of characters. Some of his famous roles include Delmar O'Donnell in O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000), Doctor Steve Pendanski in Holes (2003), and Doctor Jonathan Jacobo in Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004). He also played Wade Tillman in the TV series Watchmen (2019).
Nelson has also directed movies like O (2001), which is a modern version of Othello. He also directed The Grey Zone (2001), a serious drama. Recently, he wrote his first novel, City of Blows (2023).

Early Life and Education
Timothy Blake Nelson was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His mother, Ruth Nelson, was a well-known community activist. His father, Don Nelson, worked with geology.
Nelson's grandparents on his mother's side came from Germany. They moved to Britain in 1938 and then to the United States in 1941 to escape the Nazis before World War II. His father's family came from Russia.
Nelson went to Holland Hall School in Tulsa. He then studied at Brown University, where he focused on classical studies. He also graduated from the Juilliard School in 1990, which is a famous school for performing arts.
Acting Career
Tim Blake Nelson has acted in many films, TV shows, and plays. He is known for playing unique and interesting characters.
One of his most memorable roles was Delmar in the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou?. The directors, Joel and Ethan Coen, said he was the only one who had read Odyssey, the ancient story the film is based on. He even sang a song called "In the Jailhouse Now" for the movie's soundtrack.
He has appeared in many other popular films. These include Holes, Minority Report, and Lincoln. He also appeared in Marvel Comics movies like The Incredible Hulk.
In 2018, Nelson starred as the main character in The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. This was a western movie with different short stories. He had received the script for this movie 16 years earlier!
On TV, Nelson was a co-star in the comedy show The Unnaturals early in his career. Later, he had a big role as Wade Tillman in the HBO series Watchmen. He also appeared in an episode of Modern Family.

Tim Blake Nelson lives in New York City with his wife, Lisa Benavides. They have three sons. One of his sons, Henry Nelson, is also a film director.
