The Incredible Hulk is an exciting superhero film from 2008. It is based on the famous Marvel Comics character, the Hulk. This movie was made by Marvel Studios and released by Universal Pictures. It is the second film in the big series called the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The film was directed by Louis Leterrier. The story was written by Zak Penn. It stars Edward Norton as the main character, Bruce Banner. Other stars include Liv Tyler, Tim Roth, Tim Blake Nelson, Ty Burrell, and William Hurt.

In the movie, Bruce Banner accidentally turns into the Hulk. This happens because of a military plan to create "Super-Soldiers" using gamma radiation. Bruce then has to run from the military. He also tries to find a way to cure himself and stop turning into the Hulk.

About The Incredible Hulk Film

This movie is a new start for the Hulk character on screen. Before this, Universal had made a Hulk movie in 2003. That film got mixed reviews, so Marvel Studios decided to try again. They wanted to make a movie that felt more like the comic books and the old TV show.

Making the Movie Happen

Louis Leterrier was very interested in directing a Marvel movie. He was chosen to direct The Incredible Hulk. Zak Penn started writing the script. He wanted it to be closer to the original comics.

In April 2007, Edward Norton was hired to play Bruce Banner. He also helped rewrite the script. His ideas made the film a fresh start. It was meant to be different from the 2003 movie. This helped the new version have its own unique feel.

Filming Locations and Effects

Filming for The Incredible Hulk took place from July to November 2007. Most of the movie was filmed in Toronto, Canada. Some scenes were also shot in New York City and Rio de Janeiro.

After filming, a lot of work went into the visual effects. Over 700 special effects shots were made. These effects used motion capture and computer-generated imagery (CGI). Motion capture records an actor's movements. CGI then uses those movements to create digital characters, like the Hulk. This made the Hulk look very real on screen.

Release and Reception

The Incredible Hulk first showed at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California. This was on June 8, 2008. It was then released in the United States on June 13, 2008. This movie was part of the first group of films in the MCU's Phase One.

The film generally received good reviews. Many people thought it was better than the 2003 Hulk movie. It earned about $264.8 million around the world. However, it is the lowest-grossing film in the MCU so far.

There were some disagreements between Edward Norton and Marvel about the final version of the movie. Because of this, Mark Ruffalo took over the role of Bruce Banner. He played the Hulk in future MCU movies, starting with The Avengers in 2012.
