Early Life and Education
Kevin Feige was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He grew up in Westfield, New Jersey. His mother is Maralyn and his father is Tim Feige. He moved to New Jersey when he was three years old. He lived there until he finished Westfield High School.
His grandfather, Robert E. Short, was also a television producer. He worked on popular TV shows in the 1950s. These included The Guiding Light and As the World Turns.
After high school, Feige went to the University of Southern California. This was the same school as his favorite directors. These directors included George Lucas and Ron Howard. He applied to the film school five times and was rejected. But he got in on his sixth try! He graduated in 1995 with a degree in film.
Building the Marvel Universe
Kevin Feige started his career helping other producers. He worked on films like Volcano (1997) and You've Got Mail (1998). In 2000, he became an associate producer for the first X-Men movie. This was because he knew a lot about the Marvel Universe.
He impressed Avi Arad and was hired at Marvel Studios that same year. In the mid-2000s, Feige had a big idea. He noticed that other companies owned the rights to some Marvel characters. For example, Sony Pictures had Spider-Man. But Marvel still owned the rights to the main Avengers characters.
Feige imagined creating a "shared universe" for these characters. This was like what Stan Lee and Jack Kirby did with their comic books. In this universe, all the stories and characters would be connected.
Leading Marvel Studios
In March 2007, Kevin Feige became the president of production at Marvel Studios. After the huge success of Iron Man in May 2008, he was promoted. He became the president of Marvel Studios.

Feige has received many awards for his work. In 2013, he got the Motion Picture Showman of the Year award. For Black Panther (2018), he was nominated for an Academy Award. He also received a Golden Globe Award nomination. In 2019, he won the David O. Selznick Achievement Award. This award is given by the Producers Guild of America.
In September 2019, there were reports that Feige was working on a Star Wars film. However, this project is no longer happening. In October 2019, Feige took on an even bigger role. Besides leading Marvel Studios, he became the chief creative officer for all of Marvel Entertainment. This includes Marvel Comics, Marvel Television, and Marvel Animation.
