Kevin Feige's Early Life
Kevin Feige was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He grew up in Westfield, New Jersey. He moved to New Jersey when he was three years old. He lived there until he graduated from Westfield High School at age eighteen.
His grandfather, Robert E. Short, was a TV producer in the 1950s. He worked on popular soap operas like The Guiding Light.
After high school, Feige went to the University of Southern California. This was the same school his favorite directors attended. These directors included George Lucas and Ron Howard. He was accepted into the USC School of Cinematic Arts on his sixth try. He graduated in 1995 with a degree in film. In 2023, he received an honorary doctorate.
Kevin Feige's Career in Movies
Feige started his career as an assistant. He worked for executive producer Lauren Shuler Donner. This was for films like Volcano (1997).
For the first X-Men movie in 2000, Donner made Feige an associate producer. This was because he knew a lot about the Marvel Universe. He impressed Avi Arad and was hired by Marvel Studios that same year.
In the mid-2000s, Feige realized something important. Even though characters like Spider-Man and the X-Men were used by other film companies, Marvel still owned the rights to the main Avengers characters. He had a big idea: to create a shared universe for these characters. This was just like how Stan Lee and Jack Kirby did it in their comic books.
Feige became the president of production at Marvel Studios in March 2007. After Iron Man was a huge success in May 2008, he was promoted. He became the president of Marvel Studios.

Feige received the Motion Picture Showman of the Year award in 2013. This was from the International Cinematographers Guild. For his work on Black Panther (2018), he was nominated for many awards. These included an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award.
In 2019, he received the David O. Selznick Achievement Award. This award is given by the Producers Guild of America. In September 2019, it was reported that Feige was working on a Star Wars film. However, that project was no longer being developed by March 2023. In October 2019, Feige also became the chief creative officer for Marvel Entertainment. This includes Marvel Comics and Marvel Television.
Kevin Feige's Family Life
Kevin Feige married Caitlin, who is a heart nurse, around 2007. They have two children together. Their daughter, Ella, was born in 2009. Their son, Erik, was born in 2012.
