Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is an exciting American superhero movie from 2022. It is based on the famous Marvel Comics character, Black Panther. This film was made by Marvel Studios and released by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

It is a sequel to the 2018 movie Black Panther. This movie is the 30th film in the huge Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Ryan Coogler directed the movie and also helped write the story with Joe Robert Cole. The film stars many talented actors like Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong'o, and Angela Bassett. In the story, the brave leaders of Wakanda must protect their home after their King, T'Challa, passes away.

Making the Movie: Wakanda Forever

Plans for a sequel to Black Panther started soon after the first movie came out in 2018. Director Ryan Coogler agreed to return. Marvel Studios officially announced the new movie in mid-2019.

However, things changed in August 2020 when Chadwick Boseman, the actor who played Black Panther, sadly died. He had been battling colon cancer. Marvel decided not to cast a new actor for T'Challa's role. Instead, the story would focus on other characters. Many of the main actors from the first movie were confirmed to return.

The movie's title, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, was announced in May 2021. Filming began in late June 2021 in places like Atlanta and Massachusetts. There was a break in filming so that actress Letitia Wright could recover from an injury. Production started again in January 2022 and finished in March in Puerto Rico.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever first showed in Hollywood on October 26, 2022. It was then released in the United States on November 11, 2022. This movie was the very last film in Phase Four of the MCU.

The Story of Wakanda Forever

The movie begins with T'Challa, the King of Wakanda, being very ill. His sister, Shuri, tries to find a cure using a special "heart-shaped herb." This herb gives the Black Panther their powers. Sadly, Shuri cannot recreate the herb in time, and T'Challa passes away.

One year later, other countries are trying to get Wakanda's special metal, vibranium. Some even try to steal it. Queen Ramonda asks Shuri to keep working on the herb. She hopes a new Black Panther can protect Wakanda. But Shuri feels that the Black Panther is a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, in the ocean, a group from the CIA finds a new vibranium source underwater. But a group of blue-skinned, water-breathing superhumans attacks them. These superhumans are led by Namor. The CIA thinks Wakanda is responsible for the attack. Namor then visits Queen Ramonda and Shuri in Wakanda. He blames Wakanda for the world's interest in vibranium. Namor gives them a choice: find the scientist who made the vibranium-detecting machine, or he will attack Wakanda.

Shuri and Okoye learn from CIA agent Everett K. Ross that the scientist is Riri Williams, a student at MIT. They go to find her. They are chased by the FBI and then by Namor's warriors. Okoye is defeated, and Namor's warriors take Shuri and Riri underwater.

Queen Ramonda is upset that Okoye failed to protect Shuri. She removes Okoye from her position as general. Ramonda then seeks out Nakia, who has been living in Haiti. Namor shows Shuri his secret underwater kingdom, Talokan. It is rich in vibranium and has been hidden for centuries. Namor is angry at the surface world for past wrongs. He suggests an alliance with Wakanda against the rest of the world. But he warns that if Wakanda refuses, he will destroy them first.

Nakia helps Shuri and Riri escape from Talokan. In return, Namor attacks Wakanda. During the attack, Queen Ramonda drowns while saving Riri. Namor promises to return in a week with his full army. The people of Wakanda move to the Jabari mountains for safety. Meanwhile, Ross is arrested by his ex-wife, Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, who is now the CIA director. She arrests him for sharing secret information with Wakanda.

Shuri uses a piece of the herb that gives Namor's people their powers. She successfully recreates the heart-shaped herb. After taking it, she gains superhuman abilities. She also sees Killmonger in the Ancestral Plane, who encourages her to seek revenge. Shuri puts on a new Black Panther suit. The other Wakandan tribes accept her as the new Black Panther.

Even though M'Baku suggests peace, Shuri wants revenge for her mother's death. She orders an immediate attack on Talokan. Ayo becomes the new general of the Dora Milaje. Shuri gives special Midnight Angel armor to Okoye, who then recruits Aneka to join her. Riri Williams creates a powerful suit of armor, like Iron Man's, to help the Wakandans.

The Wakandans lure Namor and his warriors to the surface for a big battle. Shuri traps Namor in a fighter jet, hoping to weaken him. They crash on a desert beach and fight. Shuri gains the upper hand. She realizes that their paths are similar. She asks Namor to surrender and offers a peaceful alliance. Namor agrees, and the battle ends.

Namor's cousin, Namora, is upset by his surrender. But Namor tells her that their new alliance will help them conquer the surface world one day. Riri Williams returns to MIT, leaving her suit behind. Okoye rescues Ross from being held captive. In Shuri's absence, M'Baku steps forward to challenge for the throne. Shuri visits Nakia in Haiti. She burns her funeral robe, as her mother Ramonda wished. This helps Shuri finally grieve for T'Challa.

In a scene during the credits, Shuri learns a big secret. Nakia and T'Challa had a son named Toussaint. Nakia had been raising him in secret, away from the pressures of the throne. Toussaint then reveals his Wakandan name is T'Challa.
