Letitia Michelle Wright (born October 31, 1993) is a talented British actress. She started her acting journey with small parts in TV shows like Top Boy and Doctor Who. She became well-known for her role in the 2015 movie Urban Hymn.
In 2018, Letitia became famous worldwide for playing Shuri in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie Black Panther. She won awards for this role, including an NAACP Image Award and a SAG Award. She played Shuri again in Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022). In 2019, she also won the BAFTA Rising Star Award.

Early Life and School
Letitia Michelle Wright was born in Georgetown, Guyana, on October 31, 1993. When she was eight years old, her family moved to London, England. She went to Northumberland Park Community School there.
In 2023, she received a special award called an Honorary Doctorate in Arts and Letters from the University of Guyana. This was a big honor for her achievements.
Acting Career Highlights

Letitia loved acting in school plays. She decided to become a professional actress after watching the 2006 movie Akeelah and the Bee. She was very inspired by Keke Palmer's acting in that film. When she was 16, Letitia joined the Identity School of Acting to learn more about acting.
In 2011, she appeared in the TV series Top Boy and Holby City. She also had a small part in the 2012 movie My Brother the Devil. Her first main role was in the 2015 film Urban Hymn. This movie helped her get noticed in Hollywood. She also appeared in an episode of Doctor Who called Face the Raven in 2015. The next year, she started a regular role as Renie in the show Humans. In 2017, Letitia starred in the Black Mirror episode "Black Museum". Her performance earned her a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award.
Becoming Shuri in Black Panther
Letitia Wright became a global star in 2018 when she played Shuri in the movie Black Panther. Shuri is the smart and inventive sister of King T'Challa and a princess of Wakanda. The movie was part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and also starred Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong'o, and Danai Gurira.
Letitia won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Breakthrough Performance for her role in Black Panther. She played Shuri again in Avengers: Infinity War, which came out two months later. In 2018, she also appeared in Steven Spielberg's movie Ready Player One.
In 2019, Letitia won the BAFTA Rising Star Award, which is a big honor for new actors. In April 2019, she appeared with Donald Glover and Rihanna in Guava Island, a short musical film. She then returned as Shuri in Avengers: Endgame.
Recent Projects
Letitia was in the 2022 movie Death on the Nile. She also appeared in Steve McQueen's mini-series Small Axe. This series was about the West Indian community in London between the 1960s and 1980s. In the first episode, Mangrove, Letitia played British Black Panther leader Altheia Jones-LeCointe. She was praised for bringing "focussed energy and passion" to this real-life character.
In September 2022, she played June Gibbons in the film The Silent Twins. This movie was based on a book from 1986.
Letitia returned as Shuri for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which was released in November 2022. In this film, Shuri becomes the new Black Panther after the death of T'Challa. This was Letitia's first main role in a movie. The film was made to honor Chadwick Boseman, who passed away in 2020. During filming, Letitia had a motorcycle accident and fractured her shoulder, which caused a temporary pause in production.
Personal Life
Letitia has shared that she faced challenges with her mental well-being when she was younger. She found strength and help through her Christian faith. She discovered her faith after attending a Bible study meeting for actors in London. To focus on her recovery and faith, she even turned down some acting roles. She explained that she "needed to take a break from acting" to "discover my relationship with God."
