Lake Siegel Bell (born March 24, 1979) is an American actress, screenwriter, and director. She has appeared in many TV shows and movies. Some of her TV roles include Boston Legal (2004–2006) and Childrens Hospital (2008–2016). She has also been in films like What Happens in Vegas (2008) and The Secret Life of Pets (2016).
Lake Bell also writes and directs movies. She directed the short film Worst Enemy, which was shown at the Sundance Film Festival in 2012. Her first full-length movie as a director was In a World... in 2013, where she also starred. In 2017, she directed, wrote, and acted in I Do... Until I Don't. She has also voiced popular characters like Poison Ivy in Harley Quinn and Black Widow in What If...?.

Early Life and Education
Lake Bell was born in New York City. Her mother, Robin Bell, owns a design company. Her father, Harvey Siegel, is a real estate developer. He bought and changed the Virginia International Raceway into a racetrack country club.
Bell went to schools in New York and Simsbury, Connecticut. When she was a high school junior, she studied in Rennes, France for a year. She also lived in Vero Beach, Florida for some of her teenage years. She first attended Skidmore College in New York. Later, she moved to Rose Bruford College in London. This college focused on theater and acting. While there, she acted in several plays like The Seagull.

Becoming an Actress
After college, Lake Bell started her acting career in 2002. She appeared in the film Speakeasy and two episodes of the medical show ER. In 2003, she got bigger roles. She starred with Jeff Goldblum in the TV film War Stories. She also played Victoria Carlson in the TV series Miss Match.
In 2004, Bell joined the TV show The Practice as Sally Heep. Her character then moved to the spin-off show Boston Legal. She was a regular cast member there until 2005. She also appeared in an Audi commercial with Dustin Hoffman.
Bell played the main role in the science fiction series Surface from 2005 to 2006. She returned to Boston Legal for a couple of episodes. In 2008, she won an award for her acting in the thriller Under Still Waters. She also starred in romantic comedies like Over Her Dead Body and What Happens in Vegas. She was also in the crime drama Pride and Glory.
She played Dr. Cat Black in the comedy show Childrens Hospital. She even directed two episodes of the show in 2012. In 2009, Bell voiced Dana Mercer in the video game Prototype. She also played Alec Baldwin's wife in the movie It's Complicated.

She wanted to see if she could be a filmmaker.

In 2011, Lake Bell started dating Scott Campbell, who is an artist and tattoo artist. They met when he appeared in an episode of her show How to Make It in America. They got engaged in March 2012 and married on June 1, 2013, in New Orleans, Louisiana. They have two children: a daughter named Nova, born in 2014, and a son named Ozgood, born in 2017. In October 2020, they announced that they were separating.
