Thor: Ragnarok is an exciting fantasy-comedy superhero movie from 2017. It was directed by Taika Waititi and is a follow-up to the 2013 film Thor: The Dark World. This movie is part of the huge Marvel Cinematic Universe, which connects many superhero stories. It brings together amazing action, funny moments, and a thrilling adventure for the hero, Thor.
What is Thor: Ragnarok About?
This movie follows Thor, a powerful Asgardian prince and superhero. He must race against time to stop a terrible event called Ragnarok. Ragnarok is a prophecy that says his home world, Asgard, will be completely destroyed.
Thor faces his very powerful older sister, Hela, who is the Goddess of Death. She wants to take over Asgard and rule the universe. To stop her, Thor needs to gather a team of heroes. He also has to deal with being stuck on a strange planet called Sakaar.
The Story Begins: Thor's Quest
The movie starts with Thor being held captive by a fire demon named Surtur. Thor escapes and returns to Asgard, only to find his brother Loki pretending to be their father, Odin. They find Odin on Earth, but he soon passes away.
Odin's death releases Hela, his firstborn child, who was locked away for a long time. Hela is incredibly strong and quickly takes over Asgard. She destroys Thor's hammer, Mjolnir, and throws Thor and Loki into space.
Lost on Sakaar: A Gladiator's Fight
Thor lands on a strange planet called Sakaar. This planet is ruled by the Grandmaster, who loves games and entertainment. Thor is forced to become a gladiator and fight in a huge arena. Here, he discovers that his strongest opponent is none other than his old friend, the Hulk!
The Hulk has been on Sakaar for two years since the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Thor tries to convince the Hulk, and his human side Bruce Banner, to help him. He also meets a tough warrior named Valkyrie, who used to be an Asgardian hero.
Forming a Team: The Revengers
Thor, Hulk, Loki, and Valkyrie team up to escape Sakaar. They call themselves the "Revengers" (a funny twist on "Avengers"). Their goal is to return to Asgard and stop Hela. They know that Hela is getting stronger and plans to use Asgard's power to conquer other worlds.
They face many challenges and battles on their way back. Thor also starts to realize his true power doesn't come from his hammer. It comes from within himself.
The Final Battle for Asgard
When they reach Asgard, a huge battle begins against Hela and her army. The citizens of Asgard are in danger. Thor, Loki, Hulk, and Valkyrie fight bravely. However, Hela is too powerful to defeat directly.
Thor remembers the prophecy of Ragnarok. He realizes that to stop Hela, Asgard itself must be destroyed. He brings back Surtur, the fire demon, to fulfill the prophecy. Surtur destroys Asgard, which also defeats Hela. The surviving Asgardians escape on a spaceship, looking for a new home.
