Christopher Hemsworth (born August 11, 1983) is a famous Australian actor. Many people know him for playing the superhero Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies. Before Hollywood, he became well-known for his role as Kim Hyde in the Australian TV show Home and Away.
Chris Hemsworth has acted in many different types of movies. These include exciting action films, suspenseful thrillers, funny comedies, and biographical films (movies about real people's lives). In 2024, he received a special star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This is a big honor for actors in Hollywood.

Early life
Chris Hemsworth was born on August 11, 1983, in Melbourne, Australia. His mother, Leonie, was an English teacher, and his father, Craig, worked as a social-services counselor. Chris has two brothers, Luke and Liam, who are also actors. Luke was born in 1980, and Liam was born in 1990.
Chris's family has roots from several countries, including Dutch, Irish, English, Scottish, and German backgrounds. He grew up in both Melbourne and the Outback area of Bulman, Northern Territory in Australia. He went to high school at Heathmont College. After that, his family moved back to the Northern Territory, and then later to Phillip Island.
Career
Starting out (2002–2010)
Chris Hemsworth began his acting career on television. He moved to Sydney and joined the cast of the Australian soap opera Home and Away. He played the character Kim Hyde for several years, leaving the show in 2007.
In September 2007, Chris also competed on the TV show Dancing with the Stars Australia. He danced for six weeks before he and his partner were eliminated from the competition.
In 2009, Chris got a small but important role in the movie Star Trek. He played James T. Kirk's father, George Kirk, in the movie's opening scenes. This role was first offered to another famous actor, Matt Damon, who turned it down. By 2010, The Hollywood Reporter magazine named Chris as one of the young male actors who were becoming very popular in Hollywood.
Becoming Thor (2011–2015)
In 2011, Chris Hemsworth landed the role that made him a worldwide star: the superhero Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His first movie as Thor was Thor in 2011. Both Chris and his co-star Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki, had tried out for the role of Thor.
Chris played Thor again in The Avengers (2012). In this movie, he was one of six superheroes who teamed up to protect Earth from his adopted brother, Loki. The other heroes included Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.
In 2012, Chris also starred with Kristen Stewart in Snow White and the Huntsman, where he played the Huntsman. He also appeared in the 2012 movie Red Dawn.
In 2013, Chris starred in the sports drama film Rush. He played the real-life 1976 Formula 1 World Champion James Hunt. Later that year, he returned as Thor in Thor: The Dark World.
In 2015, Chris starred in the action thriller Blackhat. He played a hacker in this movie, but it was not very popular with audiences. That same year, he was in the comedy film Vacation. His last movie in 2015 was In the Heart of the Sea, where he played first mate Owen Chase.
Big movies and more success (2016–present)
In 2016, Chris Hemsworth played Eric the Huntsman again in The Huntsman: Winter's War. He also joined the cast of the Ghostbusters reboot movie, playing Kevin the receptionist.
Chris continued to play Thor in Thor: Ragnarok, which came out in 2017. He also appeared as Thor in the third and fourth Avengers movies, Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). All three of these films were very successful.
In 2019, Chris starred in Men in Black: International, a spin-off of the Men in Black series. The next year, he was in the Netflix action thriller Extraction. In 2020, he played Thor again in the movie Thor: Love and Thunder.
Chris returned as Tyler Rake in Netflix's Extraction 2 (2023). He also starred in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, which was released in May 2024. For his role in Furiosa, he was nominated for an AACTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.

In October 2024, Chris Hemsworth started talking about playing the main character in a Disney movie called Prince Charming.
Public image
After playing Thor, Chris Hemsworth's strong physique (body) became very noticeable. People often talk about his workout routines because many fans want to have a "body like Thor's." Chris later created a fitness app called Centr. This app helps people learn how to "train, eat, and live better."
Chris is a big fan of the Western Bulldogs, a team in the Australian Football League. He was part of the AFL's 2014 "Everything's Possible" campaign. He gave the money he earned from this to the Australian Children Foundation. He also appeared in the AFL's 2017 "I'd Like to See That" commercial.

This charity was co-founded by Dahl's daughter, Ophelia. At the time, the charity was helping fight COVID-19 in areas that needed help the most.
Personal life
Chris Hemsworth started dating Spanish model and actress Elsa Pataky in early 2010. They got married in December 2010. The couple has three children: a daughter named India Rose, born in May 2012, and twin sons named Sasha and Tristan, born in March 2014. In 2015, the family moved from Los Angeles to Byron Bay, New South Wales, in Chris's home country of Australia.
In 2021, Chris Hemsworth was given a special honor called Member of the Order of Australia. This was part of the 2021 Queen's Birthday Honors.
In his 2022 National Geographic documentary Limitless, Chris shared some personal health information. He learned that he has a higher chance of developing Alzheimer's disease later in life. He decided to share this to help others learn more about the condition.
