Yahuecas is a countryside area, also known as a "barrio," located in the town of Adjuntas, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 1,396 people lived in Yahuecas.
History of Yahuecas
After the Spanish–American War, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened under the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico then became a territory of the United States.
In 1899, the United States government counted everyone living in Puerto Rico. This count is called a census. The census showed that 1,710 people lived in Yahuecas barrio at that time.

Yahuecas as a Special Community
Since 2001, Puerto Rico has worked to help communities with high levels of poverty. These areas often lack resources and opportunities. A law was passed to identify these "Special Communities."
By 2008, there were 742 places on this list. Yahuecas was one of seven areas in Adjuntas named a Special Community.
In August 2020, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provided money to help the coffee industry. This money helped a coffee packaging plant in Yahuecas. This support was needed because Hurricane Maria caused a lot of damage in 2017. The hurricane led to millions of dollars in losses for Puerto Rico's farms.
