Yallah is a suburb located in New South Wales, Australia. It's part of the City of Wollongong and sits on the western side of Lake Illawarra. Yallah has a mix of country areas, shops, and light industrial zones.

What Does 'Yallah' Mean?
The name Yallah comes from an Aboriginal word. It has a few different meanings. Some people say it means "native apple tree," while others believe it refers to a nearby lagoon. There's also a meaning that suggests "go away at once."
Important Places and Changes
Tallawarra Power Station
Near Yallah, right on the shores of Lake Illawarra, you'll find the Tallawarra Power Station. It first started making electricity in 1954. Back then, it was a thermal power station, which means it used heat to create power. It closed down in 1989, but it was later updated. Now, it's a modern natural gas power station that can produce 435-megawatt (583,000 hp) of electricity using a special method called combined cycle.
Yallah Railway Station
Yallah used to have its own train station. The Yallah railway station first opened in 1887. It served the area for many years before closing down in 1974.
Princes Motorway
The southern end of the Princes Motorway is located near Yallah. It's found just south of Yallah and north of Albion Park Rail. This is where the motorway connects with the Princes Highway and the Illawarra Highway.
