Yayo Herrero's Ideas

Yayo Herrero's work looks at the big problems our planet faces. These problems come from how our economy works. She talks about the current ecological crisis. This crisis is caused by how we produce and use things in a capitalist way.

Why Our Planet Has Limits

She explains that capitalism always needs to grow. It needs more and more economic growth. But our planet is a physical place. It has limits to its resources. This means endless growth is not possible.

She also points out something interesting about jobs. In our current economic system, some jobs are seen as very important. But other jobs, which are vital for human life, are not valued as much. For example, she talks about agricultural production. This is farming and growing food. She also mentions reproductive labor. This includes caring for children and the elderly. These essential jobs are often not paid well. Sometimes, they are not paid at all.

A Better Way to Live

Because of these issues, Yayo Herrero suggests a new way forward. She proposes changing our economic model. This new model would make sure everyone is included in society. It would also work with nature. It would respect the planet's ability to renew itself. This means using resources in a way that nature can replace them.
