Yetide Badaki (born September 24, 1981) is a talented Nigerian-American actress. She is widely recognized for her role as Bilquis in the TV series American Gods on Starz.

Yetide Badaki's Early Life

Yetide Badaki was born in Ibadan, Nigeria. She lived in Nigeria for three years before moving to England. When she was six years old, she returned to Nigeria. Later, at the age of twelve, she moved to America, where she settled.

She studied at McGill University, earning a degree in English Literature with a focus on Theater. She also studied Environmental Science. Yetide continued her education at Illinois State University, where she earned a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre.

Yetide Badaki's Acting Career

Yetide Badaki has had a successful acting career. In 2006, she was nominated for a Jeff Award for Best Actress. This was for her role in the play I Have Before Me a Remarkable Document Given to Me by a Young Lady from Rwanda.

Her Role in American Gods

She received great reviews for playing Bilquis in the TV series American Gods. The character of Bilquis was made even bigger for the TV show compared to the original novel.

Other TV Shows and Movies

In 2018, Badaki played a character named Chi Chi in four episodes of the popular TV show This Is Us.

She also wrote a short film called In Hollywoodland. She raised money for this film using IndieGoGo. Yetide Badaki and Karen David produced the film and starred in it. Jessica Sherif directed the movie. In Hollywoodland is a new version of the classic story Alice in Wonderland, but it takes place in modern-day Los Angeles. The film first showed in August 2020 at the Bentonville Film Festival.

In 2022, Yetide Badaki played Veronica Antetokounmpo, the mother of basketball star Giannis Antetokounmpo, in the movie Rise. This biographical film was released on Disney Plus.

In 2023, she played an important role as an attorney named Neera Ketoul in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Her character helped save another character, Una Chin-Riley, from being unfairly punished.

Future Projects

As of 2023, Deadline announced that Yetide Badaki is working on a Nigerian vampire series called Naija Vamp. This project is being developed as both a comics series and a TV series. She is working on it with Prentice Penny and Sebastian A. Jones.
