Yetide Badaki (born September 24, 1981) is an actress from Nigeria and America. She is famous for playing the character Bilquis in the TV show American Gods on Starz.

Yetide Badaki's Early Life

Yetide Badaki was born in Ibadan, Nigeria. She lived in Nigeria for three years before moving to England. When she was six, she went back to Nigeria. Finally, at age twelve, she moved to America.

She studied at McGill University, where she earned a degree in English Literature (Theater). She also studied Environmental Science. Later, she got a Master of Fine Arts degree in Theatre from Illinois State University.

Yetide Badaki's Acting Career

In 2006, Yetide Badaki was nominated for a Jeff Award. This award was for her role in the play I Have Before Me a Remarkable Document Given to Me by a Young Lady from Rwanda.

She has received good reviews for her role as Bilquis in the TV series American Gods. The character of Bilquis was made bigger for the TV show compared to the original book. In 2018, Badaki also played Chi Chi in the TV show This Is Us.

Badaki wrote a short film called In Hollywoodland. She raised money for this film using IndieGoGo, which is a website where people can donate to projects. Badaki and Karen David produced and starred in the film. Jessica Sherif directed it. In Hollywoodland is a new version of the classic story Alice in Wonderland. It takes place in modern-day Los Angeles. The film first showed in August 2020 at the Bentonville Film Festival.

In 2022, Badaki played the mother of basketball star Giannis Antetokounmpo. This was in the movie Rise for Disney Plus.

In 2023, a news site called Deadline announced something exciting. Badaki is working on a Nigerian vampire series called Naija Vamp. She is developing it with Prentice Penny and Sebastian A. Jones. It will be both a comics series and a TV show.

Badaki also played an important role in 2023 in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. She played an attorney named Neera Ketoul. Her character helped save another character, Una Chin-Riley. Una was in trouble for hiding that she had genetic engineering. Neera Ketoul helped her avoid a long prison sentence.
