The Amazing Adventure Begins
An Unexpected Takeoff!
The movie begins with Yogi Bear and his pals exploring the amazing "Spruce Goose" airplane. This giant plane was built by the billionaire Howard Hughes. While they are looking around, they accidentally get locked inside the plane! To make things worse, the building where the plane is kept closes for the night.
Suddenly, Augie Doggie trips and opens a hidden door. The gang finds themselves in the cockpit. Yogi accidentally pushes a button, and the plane magically turns on! Soon, the Spruce Goose flies out of the building. Yogi pulls back the steering wheel to avoid hitting a bridge, and the plane lifts into the sky! After almost crashing into the Queen Mary Hotel, the Spruce Goose leaves Long Beach. It takes Yogi and his friends on a truly magical flight.
Rescuing Arctic Animals
As they fly, Yogi and his friends hear a radio report. A group of arctic animals are trapped by a snowstorm at the South Pole. They cannot reach the open sea. So, the gang decides to fly there to help! On their way, they meet Bernice, a girl who got lost after touring the Spruce Goose with her mom.
Soon, they arrive to save the animals. The Spruce Goose plows through the ice like a giant icebreaker, creating a path to the ocean. They succeed, but their mission is not over. Sharks attack the penguins! So, the gang uses the plane as a bridge to help the penguins cross the water safely. Bernice slips off the wing and almost gets eaten by sharks. Luckily, Yogi and Quick Draw McGraw rescue her. But then Snagglepuss starts the propellers, knocking them onto an ice floe. Thankfully, a whale arrives and scares off the sharks.
Saving Stranded Animals
Next, Yogi and his friends hear another radio message. Many animals are trapped on a ship in the Zelman Sea. Poachers kidnapped them and left them to die. At the same time, two aliens, Merkin and Firkin, who were scared away from invading Earth in Long Beach, try again. They turn into "Earth animals" to blend in with the trapped creatures.
The gang arrives to save the animals and scare off the aliens once more. They try to tow the ship, but its doors open, letting water in. Quick Draw McGraw, dressed as El Kabong, tries to rescue the animals himself but struggles. Then Bernice has a clever idea! She remembers the Spruce Goose was designed as a cargo plane for World War II. They can use it to carry the animals! They find the cargo doors, which were hidden after the plane's only flight years ago. The doors open, and the animals climb inside the Spruce Goose.
They then find an island where they can safely drop off the animals. They notice the word "HELP" carved in the sand. They realize someone is stranded on the island and needs rescue!
Meeting New Friends (and Foes!)
The gang starts a search party. But they don't know that something is hiding in the bushes, listening to them. The hidden creature is Mumbly! He crashed on the island with Dread Baron. Mumbly wakes up Dread Baron and tells him about the plane. Dread Baron realizes it's the Spruce Goose and plans to get rich by taking it. He sees Yogi and his friends and knows they could ruin his plans. But when he sees Bernice, he comes up with a trick to get on the plane.
After being rescued from quicksand, Dread Baron begs Yogi to take him and Mumbly off the island. The rest of Yogi's gang doesn't trust him. So, Yogi gives Dread Baron and Mumbly a test: An egg was knocked out of a bird's nest earlier. If they can return it, it will prove they want to be good. Yogi will then agree to take them back to the United States. Dread Baron and Mumbly succeed! Yogi agrees to let them on board, but the villains have other plans.
The Dread Baron's Trick
On the Spruce Goose, Dread Baron and Mumbly pretend to clean up. They want to look good so Yogi won't suspect anything. Then, Dread Baron throws a party for the gang, pretending it's a thank you. But the party is a trap! Dread Baron locks them in the cargo hold where the party is held. Now, Dread Baron takes over the plane! He and Mumbly fly off to their secret destination: The island of Moolah Moolah.
The Island of Moolah Moolah
They reach Moolah Moolah, an island filled with natives who worship an idol that looks just like Dread Baron. They call it "Malagula." Dread Baron, pretending to be Malagula, parachutes down and surprises the natives. Malagula demands gold, and the natives give him tons of it!
Meanwhile, the gang, still locked in the cargo hold, finds a way to escape. They trick the native guarding the door. The gang confronts Dread Baron, but he captures them and sends them to a hut as prisoners. After escaping the hut, the gang lands on the ground. Malagula and the natives surround them, deciding what to do next. Suddenly, the volcano starts to erupt!
With the natives and Malagula in shock, the gang escapes back to the plane. The volcano causes a crack in the ground, destroying the Malagula idol. This makes the natives believe the volcano is angry at Malagula. They stop worshiping him and chase Dread Baron and Mumbly back to the plane! We also see Merkin and Firkin, the aliens, who flew to Moolah Moolah and failed to invade Earth again.
But the plane is still in danger! The weight of all the gold starts to pull it down, stalling the engines. So, the gang pushes and shoves the gold out of the plane. Of course, Dread Baron is furious! He and Mumbly jump out to get the gold. Dread Baron tries to parachute, but Mumbly takes the parachute! Mumbly is now the new leader, and Dread Baron becomes a slave to the natives.
Back Home
The gang flies back to Long Beach, California, and the Spruce Goose's dome home. The next day, the gang goes home. Yogi and his friends run into Bernice and her mother and say goodbye. Driving home, they hear radio stories about how animals were saved at the South Pole and the Zelman Sea. The announcer says nobody knows how it happened. Yogi smiles, claiming he knows exactly how it all happened, as he and the gang cheer for the amazing Spruce Goose!
