Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy are famous Hanna-Barbera cartoon characters. They first appeared on The Quick Draw McGraw Show in their own short segments. These cartoons were all about the fun and sometimes tricky adventures of a father-and-son dog team.
Doggie Daddy, voiced by Doug Young, had a special voice that sounded like Jimmy Durante. He always tried his best to raise his energetic son, Augie. Augie, voiced by Daws Butler, loved his dad very much and often called him "dear old Dad."
When Augie did something that made his dad proud, Doggie Daddy would often smile and say, "Dat's my boy who said dat!" This showed how much they admired each other.

About the Show
The cartoon segments focused on the funny adventures of Doggie Daddy and his son, Augie. They were a father-and-son team of dachshunds. Doggie Daddy worked hard to guide his lively son, Augie.
Augie always looked up to his father. When Augie disappointed him, Doggie Daddy would gently say, "Augie, my son, my son." These cartoons were similar to other father-son dog cartoons called Spike and Tyke. Those were made by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera in the 1940s and 1950s.
Theme Song
The show had a catchy theme song that was very popular. An instrumental version of this song was played at the start of each cartoon. The lyrics of the chorus went like this:
Augie Dog was feeling sad 'till he learned from Doggie Dad--
Ears can flop and tails can wag--flippity, floppity, wiggeldy, waggeldy--
All of your troubles away.
