York is a very small city in Benson County, North Dakota, in the United States. It's a rural area, meaning it's mostly countryside. In 2020, only 17 people lived there. You can find a gas station, a place to store grain (called a granary), and services to fix farm machines in York.
History
York was started in 1886. It was named after York, England. James J. Hill, who was the president of the Great Northern Railway, chose the name.
York was one of many places along the Great Northern's main railroad line. This line went across the country. Other towns on this route were also named after places in England. These towns were Berwick, Leeds, Norwich, Penn, Rugby, Surrey, and Tunbridge.
Geography
