Ysgol Morgan Llwyd is a special high school in Wrexham, a city in north-east Wales. It is a Welsh-medium school, which means most lessons are taught in the Welsh language. It is the first and only Welsh-medium high school in the whole Wrexham County Borough.
The school is named after Morgan Llwyd, a famous Welsh preacher and writer who lived in the 1600s. The school has been at its current location on Cefn Road since the year 2000. The headteacher of the school is Ms. Catrin Prichard.
Students at Ysgol Morgan Llwyd are divided into seven groups called houses, or forms. Each house has its own name: Alun, Bers, Clywedog, Dyfrdwy, Erddig, Gwenfro, and Hafod. These names come from local places and rivers, like the River Dee and the historic Erddig estate.
A school inspection in 2014 found that for 40 out of every 100 students, at least one parent spoke Welsh at home.

The School's Story
Ysgol Morgan Llwyd first opened in 1963 with only 36 students. It was created to be the first high school in Wrexham where students could learn in Welsh.
Early Years
The school's first home was in old army barracks. In 1975, a new school building was built for the students on a street called Stockwell Grove. As more and more students wanted to learn in Welsh, the school needed more space.
A New Home
In the 1990s, a new location was found for the school on Cefn Road. After new buildings were added to the site, the school moved there in 2000. The old school building on Stockwell Grove became the new home for St. Christopher's School.
In 2018, the school began building a new block for its oldest students (the sixth form). This new building, which cost about £1.5 million, opened in 2019 with eight new classrooms and other modern facilities.
