Yume Nikki (ゆめにっき, lit. Dream Diary) is a special PC game. It was created in 2007 by a Japanese game maker named Kikiyama. The game was made using a tool called RPG Maker 2003. It tells the story of a girl named Madotsuki (窓付き, lit. windowed). When Madotsuki goes to sleep, she has very unusual and sometimes strange dreams.
This game is famous for its unique and sometimes a bit spooky dream worlds. It's known for its surreal style, which means things in the game can be very weird and dream-like, not always making sense in a normal way.
How to Play Yume Nikki
In Yume Nikki, you control the main character, Madotsuki. You can move her around using the arrow keys on your keyboard.
Exploring Dream Worlds
When Madotsuki interacts with her bed, she falls asleep and enters a dream version of her room. From this dream room, you can explore many different dream worlds. There are 12 main dream areas to discover. You reach these areas by going through doors found in a large, dark place located north of her dream room.
Finding Effects
To complete the game, your main goal is to find all 24 "effects." These are special items hidden throughout Madotsuki's dreams. Each effect gives Madotsuki a unique ability or changes her appearance. Finding all of them is key to finishing your adventure in her dream world.
