Zabit Akhmedovich Magomedsharipov (born March 1, 1991) is a former professional mixed martial artist from Russia. He was a top fighter in the Featherweight division. Zabit competed in major organizations like the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He was also the champion in the Absolute Championship Berkut (ACB).

Who is Zabit Magomedsharipov?
Zabit Magomedsharipov was born on March 1, 1991, in Khasavyurt, a city in Dagestan ASSR, which was part of the Soviet Union. He belongs to the Akhvakh ethnic group. Zabit has a younger brother, Khasan Magomedsharipov, who is also a professional mixed martial artist.
When he was 11 years old, Zabit started training in freestyle wrestling. Later, he began learning sanda, which is a Chinese martial art. In 2003, he joined a special boarding school called the Five Directions of the World wushu school. He lived there for about 10 to 12 years. During this time, he studied and trained martial arts three times a day under his coach, Gusein Magomaev.
In 2012, Zabit began his professional career in mixed martial arts (MMA). His brother, Khasan, followed in his footsteps and started his own professional MMA career in December 2019. Zabit became very well-known during a time when fighters from Dagestan were gaining a strong reputation in the UFC. They were known as very tough opponents.

Starting His Career
Before joining the bigger leagues, Zabit Magomedsharipov fought in several different MMA events. He built a strong record of 6 wins and only 1 loss. This impressive start helped him get noticed by larger organizations.
Becoming a Champion in ACB
After his early fights, Zabit joined the Absolute Championship Berkut (ACB). He had a perfect record there, winning all 6 of his fights. His success led him to become the ACB Featherweight Champion. This was a big achievement for him.
Fighting in the UFC
In May 2017, Zabit signed a contract to fight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). This is one of the biggest MMA organizations in the world.
His first UFC fight was against Mike Santiago in September 2017. Zabit won the fight by submission in the second round. He used a move called a rear-naked choke. This win also earned him a Performance of the Night bonus award.
Zabit continued his winning streak in the UFC. He faced Sheymon Moraes in November 2017 and won by submission again. This earned him another Performance of the Night bonus.
In April 2018, he fought Kyle Bochniak and won by a unanimous decision. This exciting fight earned both fighters a Fight of the Night bonus. After this win, Zabit signed a new contract with the UFC.
He was scheduled to fight Yair Rodríguez in September 2018, but Rodríguez had to pull out. Brandon Davis stepped in to fight Zabit instead. Zabit won this fight by submission in the second round.
Zabit also defeated Jeremy Stephens by unanimous decision in March 2019. Later that year, he faced Calvin Kattar in a highly anticipated fight. Zabit won by unanimous decision, and this fight also earned him a Fight of the Night award.
Retirement and Future Plans
Zabit was set to fight Yair Rodríguez again in August 2020, but Rodríguez got injured. After this, Zabit became inactive in the UFC. In April 2021, he was removed from the official UFC rankings because he hadn't fought for a while. At that time, he was ranked #3 in his division.
It was later reported that Zabit was dealing with health issues related to his immune system. These issues even required surgery. In June 2022, Zabit informed the UFC that he was officially retiring from professional fighting.
Even though he has retired from fighting, Zabit is still involved in martial arts. He is currently coaching his younger brother Khasan, and his nephews Tigran and Timothy. His brother Khasan has mentioned that Zabit is interested in competing in wrestling and grappling competitions in the future.
