Elizabeth's Show Journey
Elizabeth started her show career strong. In April 2009, she won Reserve Best in Show at a special Lhasa Apso competition. This means she was the second-best dog there. She was also named the top Lhasa Apso in a competition run by Dog World (newspaper) in 2009. In 2010, she won Best in Show at the British Utility Breeds Association championship show.
Competing in the Eukanuba World Challenge
In April 2011, Elizabeth won a special qualifying round. This win allowed her to enter the 2011 Eukanuba Champion Stakes. Twenty-five dogs from different shows across the country competed. They were divided into groups, and Elizabeth won her group. This meant she moved on to the final round.
In the final, Elizabeth competed against four other champion dogs. These included a Bichon Frisé, a Bearded Collie, a West Highland White Terrier, and a Pointer. Elizabeth won this final round too! Because she had a special pet passport, she could travel to the Eukanuba World Challenge. This big international competition took place in Orlando, Florida, in December 2011. Elizabeth made it to the final round there, competing against eleven other dogs. She finished in an amazing third place overall.
In 2011, she was again the top Lhasa Apso in the Dog World competition. She continued her winning streak in 2012. She won her group at the Manchester show in January. She also won Best of Breed at the South East Lhasa Apso Society show. Over her career, Elizabeth earned 24 Challenge Certificates (CCs). These are special awards given to dogs that meet the highest standards for their breed.
Elizabeth's Big Win at Crufts
Crufts is one of the largest and most famous dog shows in the world. In 2011, Elizabeth did very well at Crufts. She won Best of Breed for Lhasa Apsos. Then, she placed second in the Utility Group. This group includes dogs originally bred for specific jobs, like guarding or pulling carts.
Elizabeth returned to Crufts in 2012, ready to compete again. First, she won the Best of Breed title for Lhasa Apsos. This meant she was the best Lhasa Apso at the show. Next, she won the Utility Group. This win qualified her for the most exciting part of the show: the Best in Show final.
In the Best in Show final, Elizabeth stood alongside six other amazing dogs. These champions included a Newfoundland, a Pomeranian, an Irish Water Spaniel, an Old English Sheepdog, and a Norwich Terrier. Elizabeth impressed the judges the most. She won the top title of Best in Show! This made her the overall champion of Crufts 2012. Many people linked her victory to the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. It was seen as a "fitting" win in a special year for the Queen.
Elizabeth's Family and Later Years
After her big win at Crufts, Elizabeth had one puppy. This puppy, named Zentarr George, also grew up to become a champion dog in the United Kingdom. Elizabeth lived a full life as a beloved and successful show dog. She passed away in May 2017.
