Zeroman is a Canadian cartoon show that aired on Teletoon in Canada. It's about a clumsy 63-year-old mailman named Les Mutton, voiced by Leslie Nielsen. But Les has a secret: he's also the superhero Zeroman! He fights crime in Fair City, much like Leslie Nielsen's famous character, Lieutenant Frank Drebin, from the Naked Gun movies.

About the Zerosuit

The Zerosuit is a special alien suit that gives its wearer amazing powers. It makes them super strong and able to fly. When Zeroman flies, he shouts "Out, Out and Away!" The suit also makes him almost impossible to hurt, though it's a bit weaker in certain spots like the middle of his chest.

Sometimes, when Zeroman's allergies are really bad, the suit even lets him shoot sticky super-glue from his nose! But watch out! The Zerosuit has a strange weakness: anti-static sheets. If it touches them, the suit wearer gets stuck and feels a lot of pain as the suit starts to swell up.

A fun fact about the characters in Zeroman is that many of them look like the actors who voice them. For example, Les (Zeroman), Ty, Rusty, Don, and Ron all share features with the real people who play them.

Meet the Characters

Les Mutton / Zeroman

Zeroman
Les Mutton as Zeroman

Les Mutton, voiced by Leslie Nielsen, is the main hero of Fair City. He gets his superpowers from a special alien suit, which turns him into Zeroman, also known as the "Man of Zeal." When he's not saving the day, Les is a forgetful and gentle mailman. He's 63 years old and still lives with his mom!

Zeroman keeps his identity a secret in a funny way. Unlike Superman, who wears glasses as his normal self, Les doesn't wear glasses, but Zeroman does! His special "Zero-Specs" are also a cool communication system that lets him talk to Ty. Even though it's super obvious that Les and Zeroman are the same person, most people in Fair City (except Ty and Gary) can't tell the difference! They'll even argue with Les if he tries to tell them his secret. It's a funny joke about how superheroes hide their identities.

Zeroman's secret hideout is under his mom's house. The main entrance is through his bathroom toilet! You jiggle the handle, and the seat scans his "bum print," sending him down the "Poop-Chute" into his secret base. Les's dad was a secret agent, and the Zero-Specs were actually one of his spy gadgets.

Les likes his co-worker, Sally, but he's too shy to tell her. He doesn't even realize she likes him back! Les can be a bit nervous and often misunderstands things. He's also very clumsy, and the suit sometimes makes his clumsiness even worse. But he's brave and kind-hearted, always ready to fight bad guys. He loves his mom a lot, and if she gets kidnapped, he gets very upset!

Jaundice Mutton (Les's Mother)

Jaundice Mutton is Les's mom. She really wants her son to move out and get married. She can be a bit grumpy and is often annoyed with Les. But here's the funny part: Jaundice is Zeroman's biggest fan! She loves Zeroman, even though she can't stand her own son.

Ty Cheese

Ty Cheese used to be a secret agent. Now, he helps Zeroman fight crime in Fair City. Ty gives Zeroman all the tech support and information he needs. He also gives Zeroman lots of advice, because, as he says, "Ty is always right!"

Sally Uberchick

Sally is Les's younger co-worker and someone he likes a lot. She has strong feelings for Les and hopes he'll ask her out. But every time they have a moment, Zeroman gets called away to save the day! People in Fair City also think Sally is Zeroman's "main squeeze," even though nothing is actually happening between them. This gossip often puts her in danger.

Gary Glengarry / O-Boy

Gary, also known as O-Boy, is Zeroman's annoying but loyal 10-year-old sidekick-in-training. He often argues with Ty about their missions. Gary is an orphan, and even though he wants to be a superhero, he looks up to Zeroman like a dad. Gary is also a boy millionaire, so he helps pay for the team's operations and provides lots of cool gadgets, even if they don't always work perfectly.

Rusty Woodenwater

Rusty Woodenwater used to be a famous child actor, but now he's a criminal mastermind! When he was a kid, he was the most popular TV star in Fair City. But when he hit puberty, he got his first pimple on live TV. This led to his show being canceled and his career ending. After that, Rusty became Fair City's most dangerous supervillain.

The Zerosuit was actually made for Rusty originally, so he often tries to steal it back from Zeroman, but he always fails. Even though he's a genius villain, Rusty sometimes throws childish tantrums. He usually makes his henchmen, Don and Ron, do his dirty work because he's not very good at being a villain himself. Like Zeroman, Rusty also has a bad relationship with his mom; in fact, his mom has disowned him! Rusty is known for his red mullet haircut and his really high-pitched voice. Kevin McDonald voices Rusty.

Don

Don is Rusty's henchman and used to be his manager. He dresses like a 1940s gangster and has a tough attitude. His catchphrase is "Ba-wango!" Don is voiced by and looks like former hockey coach Don Cherry.

Ron

Ron is Rusty's other henchman and used to be his publicist. He's very different from Don. Ron often gets picked on by Don and Rusty. Like Don, Ron is voiced by and looks like hockey personality Ron MacLean. Don and Ron act a lot like their real-life counterparts on the "Coach's Corner" segment of Hockey Night in Canada.

Mayor Todd MacWadd

He is the friendly but a bit clueless mayor of Fair City. When Zeroman is needed, the mayor orders a special signal. They launch "Great Flaming Holes!" (huge burning truck tires) from a catapult on top of City Hall. These tires fly into the sky in random directions, usually causing damage when they crash! The mayor looks like the actor Jon Lovitz.

Helga

Helga is the corrupt police chief of Fair City. She is in love with Rusty and often helps him with his criminal plans. She is a large woman with a Russian accent.
