Zuchu, whose real name is Zuhura Othman Soud, is a talented singer and songwriter from Tanzania. She was born on November 22, 1993, in Zanzibar. Today, she lives in Dar es Salaam and works with the WCB Wasafi music company.

Zuchu's Early Life and Family
Zuchu grew up in a very musical family in Zanzibar, Tanzania. Her family is famous for their contributions to Swahili music. Her mother, Khadija Kopa, is a well-known taarab musician. Zuchu's father, Othman Soud, wrote songs for her mother and the popular TOT Band. He later became a police officer.
How Zuchu Joined WCB Wasafi
Through her mother, Zuchu met Diamond Platnumz, who started the Wasafi music label. She had an audition with him. During the audition, she sang two songs, including "Wana." This song later became her very first single. Her amazing performance helped her join WCB Wasafi.
Zuchu's Music Career
Zuchu started singing when she was young. She even worked with her mother, Khadija Kopa, on a song called "Mauzauza." This song was part of Zuchu's first music collection, called I am Zuchu. One of her first public performances was in 2015. She auditioned for a show called TECNO OWN THE STAGE in Lagos, Nigeria, alongside another Tanzanian singer, Nandy.
Zuchu's Achievements in Music
In 2022, Zuchu became the female artist with the most subscribers on YouTube in Sub-Saharan Africa. A few months later, she was the first female artist in East Africa to get 100 million streams on Boomplay.
Also in 2022, Zuchu was the first female artist from East Africa to be nominated for an MTV EMA award.
Zuchu began 2023 with a new song called Utaniua. Music experts in Tanzania praised Utaniua. They said it was a heartfelt song where Zuchu honored Bongo Flava and Baibuda music styles.
In March 2023, Zuchu released her first official music video of the year. It was for her new song, Napambana.
By June 2023, Zuchu announced that her music videos had been watched over 500 million times on YouTube. This made her the first female artist in East Africa to reach this huge number. She was also the fifth female artist in all of Africa to achieve this.
In 2023, Zuchu's popular song Sukari from 2021 was named one of the best Tanzanian songs of the decade. Notjustok placed it at number 8 on their list of top songs from 2012 to 2022.
Awards and Recognition
In July 2020, YouTube gave Zuchu a Silver Plaque Button. She earned this award for getting 100,000 subscribers in just one week. She was the first female artist in East Africa to reach this goal so quickly. She also became the first East African female artist to get 1 million subscribers on YouTube just 11 months later.
In November 2020, the AFRIMMA named Zuchu the winner of the Emerging Artist Award. This award is for new artists who are becoming popular.
In February 2023, Zuchu received five nominations at the Soundcity MVP Awards. She also performed at the award show.
In April 2023, Zuchu won five awards at the Tanzania Music Awards.
Zuchu's Personal Life
In November 2022, Zuchu shared that she was in a relationship with fellow artist Diamond Platnumz.
