It is also sometimes called Kloten Airport.

What is Zürich Airport?

Zürich Airport is the largest airport in Switzerland. It is a very important place for air travel in Europe. Many people fly in and out of this airport every day.

A Busy Travel Hub

Home to Airlines

Zürich Airport is the main base, or "hub," for Swiss International Air Lines. This means many of their flights start or end here. Other airlines like Edelweiss Air and Helvetic Airways also use Zürich as a key airport.

Runways for Planes

The airport has three long runways. These are special paved areas where planes take off and land.

  • Runway 10/28 is 2,500 meters (8,202 feet) long.
  • Runway 14/32 is 3,300 meters (10,827 feet) long.
  • Runway 16/34 is 3,700 meters (12,139 feet) long.
