Ángela Aguilar Álvarez Alcalá (born October 8, 2003) is a talented singer from both Mexico and the United States. She was born in Los Angeles, California, while her mother was with her father, Pepe Aguilar, on his music tour. Ángela became well-known after singing "La Llorona" at the 19th Annual Latin Grammy Awards in 2018.

Her grandparents, Antonio Aguilar and Flor Silvestre, were famous actors and singers from the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. Ángela's first solo album, Primero Soy Mexicana (2018), was very popular and received great reviews. She has been nominated for a Grammy Award and two Latin Grammy Awards. This makes her one of the youngest artists ever to be nominated for these important music awards.

Ángela Aguilar's Early Life

Ángela Aguilar Álvarez Alcalá was born on October 8, 2003. Her parents are Pepe Aguilar and Aneliz Álvarez Alcalá. She was born in Los Angeles, California, while her father was on tour. She was named after her great-grandmother, Ángela Márquez Barraza Valle.

Ángela has dual citizenship, meaning she is a citizen of both Mexico and the United States. She grew up in a musical family, often called "La Dinastía Aguilar" (The Aguilar Dynasty). From a young age, Ángela often traveled with her father and brother, Leonardo Aguilar, on their music tours across Latin America.

In July 2018, Ángela worked with an organization called Voto Latino. They wanted to encourage more Latino Americans to vote in elections in the United States.

Ángela Aguilar's Music Career

Starting Her Music Journey (2012-2017)

In 2012, when she was just nine years old, Ángela released an album called Nueva Tradición. She made this album with her brother, Leonardo. It included four songs sung by Leonardo and four by Ángela.

In 2016, Ángela took part in the BBC 100 Woman festival in Mexico City. At 13 years old, she was the youngest performer at the event. She told BBC News that she hoped the music industry, which was mostly run by men, would become more open to women.

In January 2018, Ángela and her family started a special show called "Jaripeo Sin Fronteras." This show combined music with horse riding performances. Ángela performed alongside her father, Pepe, her uncle Antonio, and her brother, Leonardo.

First Solo Albums (2018-Present)

On March 2, 2018, Ángela released her first solo album. It was called Primero Soy Mexicana, and her father, Pepe, produced it. The album featured eleven famous ranchera songs. These songs had been sung before by other well-known artists, including her grandmother, Flor Silvestre.

Ángela sang the first song from the album, "Tu Sangre en Mi Cuerpo," at the 2018 Premios Tu Mundo awards. On September 20, she was nominated for Best New Artist. Her album, Primero Soy Mexicana, was nominated for Best Ranchero/Mariachi Album at the 19th Annual Latin Grammy Awards.

At the awards ceremony, she performed "La Llorona." The audience loved her performance and gave her a standing ovation. Many artists, including Mexican ranchera singer Vicente Fernández, praised her. On December 7, Ángela's album Primero Soy Mexicana was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Regional Mexican Music Album.

On April 3, 2019, the Mayor of Zacatecas, Mexico, named Ángela the Artistic and Cultural Ambassador of the city. On May 21, Ángela was nominated for three awards at the 2019 Premios Juventud. She performed a mix of songs with mariachi singers Christian Nodal and Pipe Bueno.

On July 23, Ángela released a special cover of the song "Shallow." She posted it on The Recording Academy's YouTube page, with permission from the songwriter, Lady Gaga. This was the first time Ángela recorded a song in English.

On January 31, 2020, Ángela released a short album (EP) that honored American singer, Selena. It was called Baila Esta Cumbia. On September 24, 2021, she released her second solo album, Mexicana Enamorada. On April 1, she released "En Realidad," which was the first song from her third solo album.

Ángela Aguilar's Personal Life

Ángela Aguilar comes from a very musical family, known as "La Dinastía Aguilar." Her father is the famous Mexican singer Pepe Aguilar. Her grandparents, Antonio Aguilar and Flor Silvestre, were also well-known Mexican singer-actors. Her uncle is Antonio Aguilar, Jr., and her brother is Leonardo Aguilar.

On June 10, 2024, Ángela confirmed that she was in a relationship with Mexican singer Christian Nodal. They were married on July 24, 2024, in a private ceremony. The wedding took place at Hacienda San Gabriel de las Palmas, near Lake Tequesquitengo in the state of Morelos.
