José Antonio Aguilar Jiménez, known as Pepe Aguilar, is a famous American singer. He was born on August 7, 1968. Pepe comes from a very musical family. His parents, Antonio Aguilar and Flor Silvestre, were also well-known singers and actors.
Pepe started performing at a very young age. He joined his father on stage at Madison Square Garden in New York City when he was just three years old! Today, Pepe's own children, Leonardo Aguilar and Ángela Aguilar, are following in their family's musical footsteps.
Pepe Aguilar has sold over 13 million albums around the world. He has won many important awards for his music. These include four Grammy Awards and five Latin Grammy Awards. He also has a special star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Pepe Aguilar's Early Life and Music Career
Pepe Aguilar was born in San Antonio, Texas, in 1968. His parents were on a music tour at the time. Even though he was born in the United States, he grew up in Zacatecas, Mexico.
Pepe's first time singing on stage was when he was three years old. This happened at a concert his father gave at Madison Square Garden. As a teenager, Pepe loved rock music. He even had his own band called "Equs." This band didn't last long, but it helped him make his first album. Pepe was inspired by rock bands like Pink Floyd and The Who.
Later, as he got older, he returned to Mexican Regional music. He mixed traditional styles with modern pop sounds. This helped him create his own unique style. He became a very important artist in Latin music. He also had a successful acting career.
First Albums and Big Success
Pepe Aguilar started his solo music career in 1989. His first album was called "Pepe Aguilar Con Tambora." He released more albums in the early 1990s. In 1992, he recorded his first mariachi album, "Recuérdame Bonito." A famous Mexican singer, Joan Sebastian, helped produce it.
In 1998, Pepe released "Por Mujeres Como Tú." This album made him very famous in Mexico and Latin America. It was a huge hit!
On February 9, 1999, he released "Por El Amor De Siempre." This album featured new versions of songs from the 1970s. He sang songs by artists like Camilo Sesto and José José. Pepe's new take on these old songs was very popular. This album helped make his career even stronger. By October 1999, millions of copies had been sold. Many of its songs were played on the radio. It also won a Grammy Award for "Best Regional Mexican Album."
Music from 2000 to 2006
In 2000, Pepe made an album to honor great artists who came before him. He wanted to thank the "most important voices of the golden age of ranchero music." These artists included Jorge Negrete, Pedro Infante, and Vicente Fernandez.
He later released "Lo Mejor De Nosotros." This album had new songs and was a team effort with the songwriter Fato. His song "Me Vas a Extrañar" became very popular.
In 2003, Pepe started his own recording studio called "Equinoccio Records." He released his first album from his own studio, "Y Tenerte Otra Vez." This album included songs like "Me Falta Valor."
In 2003, he also made a special album called "Con Orgullo Por Herencia." This album honored his parents, Antonio Aguilar and Flor Silvestre. It featured songs they had sung. In 2004, Pepe sang the official song for Big Brother México, called "Miedo." This was a big project for him.
On August 31, 2004, he released the album "No Soy De Nadie." The song "El Autobús" was a hit from this album. This album included songs written by famous songwriters like Juan Gabriel. Pepe also wrote some of the songs himself.
In 2005, his album "Historias De Mi Tierra" honored the traditional Mexican folk songs called El Corrido. Songs like "Dos Amigos" were part of this album. This CD won Pepe another Latin Grammy and an American Grammy.
On August 15, 2006, Pepe released "Enamorado." This album was a follow-up to his 1999 album. It included the main song for the TV show "Destilando Amor," called "Por Amarte." This album won another Latin Grammy in 2007.
On July 26, 2012, Pepe Aguilar received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It was the 2,474th star placed there. His star is right next to his father's star.
Pepe Aguilar as a Businessman
Pepe Aguilar is not just a singer; he is also a smart businessman. He has his own record label called Equinoccio Records. He also owns a very advanced music studio in Latin America.
Pepe has also entered the world of fashion. In 2009, he launched his own shoe line. It was called "Pepe Aguilar Línea de Calzado" and had shoes for both men and women. He also launched the "Pepe Aguilar Signature Collection" through WSS stores in the United States.
Pepe also wants to help Mexico. He started an eco-friendly farming project. This project helps communities in Zacatecas grow organic crops. It uses traditional methods and new technology to help the environment.

Pepe Aguilar grew up in a family full of music. His father, Antonio Aguilar, was a famous Mexican singer. He sold over 25 million records! Antonio Aguilar helped share charro (Mexican cowboy) and mariachi culture with people all over the world. Pepe's mother, Flor Silvestre, was also a regional Mexican singer. She was a leading actress during the golden age of Mexican cinema.
Pepe is the nephew of singers La Prieta Linda and Mary Jiménez. He has four siblings. Pepe is married to Aneliz Álvarez Alcalá. They have four children. Two of his children, Leonardo Aguilar and Ángela Aguilar, are also singers.
