Órla Fallon (born August 24, 1971) is an Irish singer and songwriter. She is famous for being a founding member of the popular music group Celtic Woman. She also sang with the chamber choir Anúna.

Early Life and Education

Órla Fallon was born in Knockananna, Ireland. From a young age, she learned to play the harp and sing. She often performs traditional Irish music, especially in the Irish language.

Órla studied at the Mater Dei Institute of Education in Dublin. She has performed for important people like the Pope and the President of Ireland. She has also sung at famous places such as Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Órla Fallon's Music Career

Starting Her Music Journey

Órla Fallon began her career by auditioning for Michael McGlynn. She later joined the chamber choir called Anúna.

Her first album, The Water is Wide, came out in Europe in 2000. It was released in North America in 2006. In 2005, she was featured on The Duggans' album Rubicon. Other artists like Moya Brennan also appeared on this album.

Joining Celtic Woman

In 2004, Órla sent a music demo to composer David Downes. He was creating a new music group called Celtic Woman. Because of her special singing talent, David asked Órla to join.

She agreed and became one of the first members of Celtic Woman. She sang and played the harp for the group. At first, it was planned to be just a one-night show.

Órla was part of several Celtic Woman albums, including Celtic Woman, Celtic Woman: A Christmas Celebration, and Celtic Woman: A New Journey. She also appeared in their TV specials and DVDs. She toured with the group from 2005 to 2008.

She even wrote a song called Shooting Star and performed it during the Celtic Woman tours in 2005 and 2006.

In 2009, Órla Fallon decided to leave Celtic Woman. She wanted to take a break and spend more time with her family. Alex Sharpe then took her place in the group.

After Celtic Woman

After leaving Celtic Woman, Órla continued her solo career. In 2009, she was a guest singer on Jim Brickman's "It's a Beautiful World" tour. She also released her second album, Distant Shore, that same year. This album included her song Shooting Star.

In 2010, she released her third album, Music of Ireland: Welcome Home. Later that year, she had her own TV special called Órla Fallon's Celtic Christmas. This special also featured other singers, including Méav Ní Mhaolchatha from Celtic Woman and American Idol singer David Archuleta.

She released another album, Órla Fallon: My Land, in March 2011. This album also had a TV special. Her album Lullaby Time came out in 2012.

Personal Life

Órla Fallon married John Comerford in 1997. They have a son named Freddie, who was born in 2012.
