1. Wiener Neustädter Sportclub is a football club from Wiener Neustadt, a city in Austria. They play football and are known for their blue and white colors. The club was started in 2008.
Club History
The club, first known as FC Magna Wiener Neustadt, got a chance to play in the First League. This happened because another team, SC Schwanenstadt, had money problems and could no longer play. FC Magna took their spot.
On May 19, 2008, a businessman named Frank Stronach became the club's president. He is the person who started a big company called Magna International.
The team played its very first league game on July 12, 2008. They played against FC Wacker Innsbruck and lost 0–3. However, the rest of that season was much better! The team won the Austrian First League championship. This win meant they moved up to play in the top league, the Austrian Bundesliga.
Later in 2008, FC Magna decided to join with an older club called 1. Wiener Neustädter SC. To honor the older club's history, FC Magna changed its name. From July 1, 2009, the club became known as SC Magna Wiener Neustadt. In 2010, the club also started working together with SK Sturm Graz.
