The 1000 metres is a running race in track and field sports. It's a middle-distance running event, meaning it's longer than a sprint but shorter than a long-distance race. This race is not as common as others, but it's still an exciting challenge for athletes.
Sometimes, a similar race called the 1000 yards was also held. This used an imperial measurement instead of metres.
