The 1000 metres is a running race in track and field where athletes run a distance of 1000 metres, which is the same as 1 kilometre. It's not as common as some other races, but it's still an exciting middle-distance running event! To complete this race on a standard outdoor track (which is 400 metres long), runners go around two and a half times. If they are on an indoor track (usually 200 metres long), they complete five laps.
