20 Forthlin Road is a special house in Allerton, Liverpool, England. It is owned by the National Trust, a group that protects important places. History of the House
Early Years and the McCartney Family
The house at 20 Forthlin Road was built in 1949. It was owned by the local government. The McCartney family moved into this house in 1955. At that time, Paul was attending secondary school.
A Home for the Beatles' Beginnings
This house became a very important place for the Beatles. It was where Paul McCartney, John Lennon, and George Harrison often met. They wrote many of their early songs in this house. They also practiced their music here. This is why the National Trust calls it "the birthplace of the Beatles."
National Trust Ownership
In 1965, Paul McCartney bought a new house for his father, Jim. This new home was in Heswall, a nicer area of the Wirral. The family then moved out of 20 Forthlin Road.
The National Trust took over the ownership of 20 Forthlin Road in 1995. They work to preserve the house. This allows fans and visitors to see where Paul McCartney grew up. It helps people understand the early days of the Beatles.
Special Recognition for the House
