20 Forthlin Road is a special house in Liverpool, England. It's famous because it was the home of Paul McCartney for many years. Paul became a worldwide music star with his band, the Beatles. The house is now owned by the National Trust. They call it "the birthplace of the Beatles." This is because Paul and his bandmates wrote and practiced some of their first songs right here! Paul's brother, Mike McCartney, also lived here. He was part of a band called the Scaffold.

A Special Home for Music
The house at 20 Forthlin Road was built in 1949. It was owned by the local government. The McCartney family moved into this house in 1955. Paul was a teenager in secondary school at the time.
In 1965, Paul McCartney bought a new house for his father, Jim. This house was in a nicer area called Heswall.
The Birthplace of The Beatles' Songs
The National Trust has owned the house since 1995. They promote it as "the birthplace of the Beatles." This is because the band spent a lot of time here. They wrote and rehearsed many of their early songs in this very house.
A Historic Landmark
This house, along with John Lennon's childhood home, is a very important building. In February 2012, both houses were given a special status. They were named Grade II listed buildings by Historic England. This means they are important and protected.
Unlike Lennon's home, 20 Forthlin Road does not yet have a special blue plaque. These plaques are put up by English Heritage. A person usually needs to have passed away 20 years ago to get one.
A Visit from James Corden
In 2018, the house was featured on a TV show. It was part of "The Late Late Show with James Corden". Paul McCartney visited the house with James Corden. Paul said it was his first time back since he moved out as a teenager.
