The AVAX Group is one of the oldest and largest construction companies in Greece. It builds many different things, like roads, buildings, and bridges. AVAX also works on projects in other countries, including Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Since 1994, AVAX Group has been listed on the Athens Stock Exchange. This means people can buy and sell parts of the company. Some of their most famous projects include the Attiki Odos highway, parts of the Athens Metro, the Rio-Antirrio Bridge, and The Mall Athens.

History of AVAX Group
The story of AVAX Group began a long time ago, in 1941, with a company called J&P Overseas. Later, in 1986, AVAX S.A. was started. Another company, J&P HELLAS S.A., began working in Greece in 1993.
In 2002, AVAX S.A. and J&P HELLAS S.A. joined together to form a new, bigger company called J&P-AVAX S.A. This was a big step for the group.
Key Milestones and Growth
Over the years, AVAX Group grew by adding other companies or joining with them.
- 2000: AVAX S.A. bought ETETH S.A., a company that had been around since 1961.
- 2002: J&P-AVAX S.A. started AUTECO, a company that checks if cars are safe.
- 2007: J&P-AVAX S.A. teamed up with another construction company called ATHENA S.A.
- 2007: MONDO TRAVEL S.A. was created to offer organized trips and tours.
- 2008: TASK J&P-AVAX S.A. was founded to help manage buildings and facilities.
- 2017: Two companies, E-Construction S.A. and PROET SA, became part of J&P-AVAX S.A.
- 2018: ATHENA S.A. fully joined AVAX S.A.
- 2019: The company changed its main name from "J&P-AVAX S.A." to "AVAX S.A." and also got a new logo.
- 2019: J&P Energy & Industrial Projects S.A. also became part of AVAX S.A.

The AVAX Group is made up of several different companies, each with its own special job.
- ETETH S.A.: This company was started in 1961 and joined the AVAX Group in 2001. It is very experienced in public works projects.
- AVAX DEVELOPMENT: Founded in 1991, this company builds and invests in real estate. They create homes, including city apartments and holiday houses. They also invest in commercial buildings.
- ELVIEX: This company, started in 1970, treats wooden poles to make them last longer. It is part of ETETH S.A., which is part of AVAX Group.
- AUTECO: Created by AVAX Group in 2006, AUTECO runs centers where cars are checked for safety and proper working condition.
- TASK AVAX: This company helps manage buildings. They offer services like cleaning, maintenance, and repairs for different facilities.
- Athens Marina: Established in 2009, Athens Marina worked to improve the Faliro Marina. Now, it can host very large and luxurious yachts, from 50 to 130 meters long. It is fully owned by AVAX Group.
Amazing Projects Completed by AVAX Group
The AVAX Group and its earlier companies have built many impressive structures around the world.
- The Seeb International Airport in Muscat, Oman: This airport was finished in 1976. It is the main airport in Oman and a hub for Oman Air.
- The King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Saudi Arabia: Completed in 1993, this airport is huge! It is one of the largest airports in the world by land area.
- The Abu Dhabi International Airport in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: This airport was finished in 1981 and is the second-largest in the U.A.E.
- The Rio-Antirio bridge in Greece: Finished in 2004, this is a famous cable-stayed bridge. It crosses the Gulf of Corinth, connecting the town of Rio on the Peloponnese to Antirrio on mainland Greece.
- The Al Bustan Palace Hotel in Muscat, Oman.
- The Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, Jordan: This airport was expanded and improved, with work completed in 2011. The project helped the airport handle more passengers and even the very large Airbus A380 planes.
- Two contracts for The Pearl-Qatar artificial island in Doha, Qatar: This included building roads and other important structures for the island, with work completed by 2011.
- Construction of seven large maintenance hangars for airplanes at Dubai International Airport. This project, completed in 2010, also included workshops, power plants, and other facilities.
- A passenger terminal complex at an airport, completed in 2002. This included the main terminal building, taxiways for planes, and car parks.
- Reconstruction of a new road interchange with seven bridges at Al Safa area on Sheikh Zayed road in Dubai, completed in 2002.
- Rehabilitation of the road from Woldiya to Addis Ababa (400 km) in Ethiopia, completed between 2001 and 2006.
Global Recognition
In 2009, a well-known journal called Engineering News-Record recognized J&P(O) Ltd (an earlier part of AVAX Group) as the 36th largest international construction company in the world. This shows how important and successful they were globally.
