Bella's Amazing Journey Home
Lucas Ray lives in Denver, Colorado. One day, he and his friend Olivia find a cute puppy at a construction site. The puppy is with some kittens and their mother cat. Lucas names the puppy Bella and takes her home. She lives with him and his mother, Terri Ray.
Bella and Lucas become the best of friends. They play together, and Lucas takes great care of her. However, Lucas also feeds the cats at the old construction site. This makes Günter Beckenbauer, the man who wants to tear down the building, very angry. Günter calls animal control. He claims Bella is a pit bull. In Denver, certain dog breeds like pit bulls were not allowed.
An animal control officer named Chuck warns Lucas. If Bella is found outside, she will be taken away. The next day, Bella chases a squirrel and gets out. Chuck quickly takes Bella to the local animal shelter. Lucas gets Bella back, but he is warned again. If Bella is caught one more time, she could be put down.
To keep Bella safe, Lucas sends her to live with Olivia's aunt and uncle. They live in Farmington, New Mexico. Lucas plans to find a new home outside Denver where Bella can live freely. But Bella misses Lucas terribly. She decides to leave Farmington and start her long trip home. This journey will be over 400 miles and take more than two years!
During her adventure, Bella makes a special friend. It's a baby cougar! Bella names her "Big Kitten." Bella and Big Kitten face many dangers together. They are hunted by a pack of coyotes. But some kind men help Bella and scare the coyotes away. The men try to call Lucas, but Big Kitten's sudden arrival scares them off.
In the winter, Bella helps rescue a man stuck in an avalanche. Later, she reaches a small town. A kind veteran named Axel takes her in for a while. Sadly, Axel passes away. Back in the wild, coyotes attack Bella again. But Big Kitten, now fully grown, returns! She bravely fights off the coyotes. Bella learns that everyone has a home. She knows she must keep going to get back to her family.
After many more challenges, Bella finally reaches Denver. She says goodbye to Big Kitten, who is now a mother herself. Bella finds the VA hospital in the city. There, she has a joyful reunion with Lucas, Terri, and Olivia! Lucas wants to take Bella to the vet for an injury she got from a car.
But then, Chuck from animal control arrives with police officers. Chuck wants to take Bella again. Captain Mica, a police captain, says he must follow the law. However, Lucas and Terri explain that the VA hospital is federal property. This means it's not technically part of Denver. Captain Mica agrees and lets Lucas keep Bella. He also tells Chuck off for being too strict. Chuck is removed from street duty. Lucas and Olivia are so happy. They finally move to Golden, where pit bulls are allowed. Meanwhile, Big Kitten and her cub watch over Denver.
