Adena (pronounced ə-DEEN-ə) is a small village located in Ohio, a state in the United States. It is found in the southwestern part of Jefferson County and the southeastern part of Harrison County. In 2020, about 664 people lived there. Adena is also part of the larger Weirton–Steubenville metropolitan area.

A Look at Adena's Past
The village of Adena got its name from the famous Adena Mansion. This was the home of Governor Thomas Worthington in Chillicothe, Ohio. John McLaughlin, who was a member of the Ohio General Assembly, suggested the name. This happened when the village was first being created.
A post office was opened in Adena in 1855. Peter Hixon was the first Postmaster. At first, there was no mail delivery route. Once a mail route was set up, John Bendell became the first acting Postmaster. The post office is still open and serving the community today.
