Babatunde Adetomiwa Stafford "Tomiwa" Edun (born in 1985) is a British-Nigerian actor. You might know him as Sir Elyan in the TV show Merlin. He is also famous for playing the character Alex Hunter in the FIFA 17, FIFA 18, and FIFA 19 video games.

Early Life and Education

Adetomiwa Edun was born in Lagos, Nigeria. His father, Olawale Edun, is a Nigerian politician and expert in finance. His mother, Amy Adwoa Appiah, is half-Ghanaian and half-English.

Edun comes from a very interesting family. His grandfather on his mother's side, Joseph Emmanuel Appiah, was an important lawyer and politician in Ghana. His grandmother, Peggy Cripps, was an author and art expert. Through his family, Edun is a descendant of Osei Tutu, a famous warrior emperor of the Ashanti people in Ghana.

When he was 11, Edun moved to the United Kingdom. He went to the famous Eton College and later studied Classics at Christ's College, Cambridge. His father hoped he would work in banking, and Edun even did an internship at a large bank. However, he decided to follow his passion for acting. He chose to study at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), a top acting school in London.

Acting Career

Edun's career began on stage. In 2009, he played the lead role of Romeo in Romeo and Juliet at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London. He was only the second Black actor to play this famous part at the Globe. He also acted in a production of Macbeth for the National Theatre.

Television Roles

Edun is well-known for his work on television. His biggest role was Sir Elyan in the popular BBC series Merlin. He joined the show in the third series and became a main character until the final series in 2012.
