Adina Bastidas' Political Ideas
Adina Bastidas is known for her left-wing political views. She has often shared her opinions about Venezuela's private businesses. When she became Commerce Minister, some people saw it as a sign that President Chávez's government was becoming even more focused on its economic goals.
President Chávez himself praised her work. He called her "a first class revolutionary." He also said her efforts were "exceptional."
In 2001, Bastidas spoke at a meeting in Caracas. She talked about how different parts of the world interact. She believed that countries in the "South" (often referring to developing nations) needed to unite. She felt they should work together to create a fairer world order.
