Agilisaurus (say "AJ-ih-lih-SAWR-us") means 'agile lizard'. This name fits well because it was likely a quick and nimble dinosaur. It lived during the Middle Jurassic Period, which was about 168 to 163 million years ago.
Agilisaurus was a type of ornithischian dinosaur. This group of dinosaurs had hips that looked a bit like a bird's. Its fossils have been found in eastern Asia, specifically in China.
Discovering Agilisaurus
The very first fossils of Agilisaurus were found a long time ago. They were discovered in 1915 in the Sichuan Province of China. These important finds helped scientists learn about this ancient creature.
