Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah (born on 5 September 1952) is an important person in Kuwait. He is an economist, a politician, and a senior member of the ruling family, Al Sabah. He was the Minister of Oil from 2009 to 2011.

On 15 April 2024, he was chosen to be the Prime Minister of Kuwait. He officially started his role as Prime Minister on 15 May 2024.

Early Life and School

Ahmad Al-Sabah was born on 5 September 1952. He went to the University of Illinois and earned a degree in finance in 1975. This means he studied how money works and how to manage it.

His Career Journey

Ahmad Al-Sabah worked at the Central Bank of Kuwait from 1978 to 1987. A central bank helps manage a country's money system. After that, he worked in private finance companies from 1987 to 1999. During this time, he was the chairman of the Burgan Bank SAK, which means he was in charge of the bank's board.

Roles in Government

In 1999, he became the Minister of Finance. This role involves managing the country's money and taxes. He also became the Minister of Communication in the same year. In March 2007, he was suggested to be the health minister. However, the National Assembly (Kuwait's parliament) did not agree, which led to the government resigning.

Becoming Oil Minister

In February 2009, Ahmad Al-Sabah was appointed as the Minister of Oil. This was a very important job because oil is a major resource for Kuwait. He took over from Mohammad Al Olaim. His time as oil minister ended in May 2011.

Leading the Crown Prince’s Court

In 2021, Ahmad Al-Sabah became the head of the Crown Prince’s Court. This is a special office that supports the Crown Prince.

Becoming Prime Minister

On 15 April 2024, he was chosen to be the next Prime Minister. He officially became Prime Minister on 15 May 2024. He took an oath (a special promise) in front of the Kuwaiti Emir (the ruler of Kuwait) after forming his new government. He took over this role from Mohammad Sabah Al Salem Al Sabah.

Family Life

Ahmad Al-Sabah is married and has three children.
