Early Life and Education
Sheikh Nasser was born on 22 December 1940. His father was Mohammed Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who was Kuwait's first defense minister. Sheikh Nasser is also the nephew of the former Emir of Kuwait, Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
He went to high school in the United Kingdom and finished in 1955. Later, in 1960, he earned a special diploma in the French language.
Political Career
Nasser Al-Mohammed Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah started his career in 1964 at the foreign ministry. He worked as a third secretary, which is an early diplomatic role. In October 1964, he became part of Kuwait's team at the United Nations in New York.
He later served as an ambassador to countries like Iran and Afghanistan. He also held several important government jobs. These included Minister of Information, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. He was also the Minister of the Emiri Diwan, which means he was in charge of the Ruler's Court.
Becoming Prime Minister
In February 2006, when Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah became the ruler of Kuwait (the Emir), Nasser Al-Mohammed Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was chosen to be the Prime Minister.
Challenges and Resignations
During his time as Prime Minister, Sheikh Nasser faced some challenges.
- In March 2007, he resigned to help avoid a "no-confidence motion" against the health minister. A no-confidence motion is when members of parliament vote to show they no longer support a government official. If the vote passes, the official usually has to step down. He was reappointed as Prime Minister just two days later.
- In November of the same year, his cabinet (the group of ministers who help run the government) resigned. The Emir reappointed him as Prime Minister in December.
- In March 2009, the government resigned again after some members of parliament asked for a special meeting with the Prime Minister.
- After new elections in May 2009, the Emir asked Sheikh Nasser to form the government for the sixth time in a row.

In January 2011, he survived another no-confidence vote in parliament. The vote was very close, 25-25, and he needed 26 votes against him to be removed. In April 2011, his cabinet resigned again because of disagreements with the parliament. He was reappointed on 6 April 2011 to form a new government. However, he resigned once more on 28 November 2011. His resignation was accepted by the Emir. Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah was then appointed as the next Prime Minister in December 2011.
Personal Life
Nasser Al-Mohammed Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah is married to Shahrazad Al-Humoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. They have two children together, named Sabah and Ahmad.
