Aidan's Journey to Fame
Starting on Britain's Got Talent (2009)
In May 2009, Aidan Davis auditioned for Britain's Got Talent. He danced to the song "Low" by Flo Rida. All three judges loved his performance. Simon Cowell even said, "I think you're better than any dancer on this show." Aidan got three "yes" votes and moved to the next round.
Even though Aidan had never taken a dance lesson, people compared him to George Sampson. George was the winner of the show's second series. Aidan was chosen as one of the 40 semi-finalists.
Semi-Final Performance
Aidan performed again in the semi-final on 29 May 2009. He danced to "Rock Your Body" by Justin Timberlake. The audience gave him a standing ovation. The judges were very impressed. Amanda Holden said he "blew her away." Simon Cowell told him, "whatever 'it' is, you've got it." He also praised Aidan's confidence. Piers Morgan compared him to a young Justin Timberlake. Aidan got the most public votes and went straight to the final.
The Grand Final
In the final on 30 May 2009, Aidan danced to "Low" again. The audience gave him another standing ovation. Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan loved his performance. However, Simon Cowell thought it wasn't as good as his semi-final dance. He said Aidan had limited time to prepare. But Cowell also told him, "You still have a huge future ahead of you." Aidan later said he felt "gutted" by this comment.
Aidan did not finish in the top three acts. He came in fifth place overall. He received 6.5% of the total 4 million votes. After the show, Simon Cowell said he regretted making Aidan sad during the final.
