Akai Osei (born 12 April 1999) is a talented British actor, dancer, presenter, and musician. He became well-known after winning the first season of Got to Dance in February 2010.
Akai was inspired by famous artists like Michael Jackson, and dance groups such as Diversity and Flawless. He also looked up to Chris Brown. Soon after his big win on Got to Dance, Akai started his acting career.
He appeared in the movie StreetDance 3D alongside Diversity, George Sampson, and Flawless. He also starred in its sequel, StreetDance 2. Akai was part of Boy Blue Entertainment's hip-hop dance show called Pied Piper – A Hip-Hop Dance Revolution.
In 2010, Akai was in the music video for the N-Dubz song "We Dance On". This song was the main theme for the StreetDance 3D movie. He also appeared in a TV advertisement for the Ministry of Sound Street Dance 2010 CD.
Akai later joined the cast of Into the Hoods. He also appeared on Blue Peter in mid-2010. He performed in the annual dance show "Streets Ahead" in London that same year. He was featured dancing on a rooftop in the song Unorthodox by Wretch 32, which also featured Example.
In July 2011, Akai became a judge on a talent show. It was on Disney Channel and was called Shake It Up Dance Dance. His most famous role was playing Nero, Josh's cousin, in the CBBC show 4 O'Clock Club. He was a regular in the third series. From Series 4 to Series 7, he became one of the main characters. He also made a special guest appearance in Series 8.
His character, Nero, left the show in the fourth episode of Season 7. Nero moved to America with his temporary guardian and girlfriend. However, Akai returned as a guest in Series 8. He also appeared in flashback scenes for Series 7 and 8 (from 2018 to 2020).
