After winning Got to Dance, Akai started his acting career. He appeared in the movie StreetDance 3D alongside Diversity and George Sampson. He also starred in its follow-up film, StreetDance 2.
Akai also performed in a street dance hip-hop show called Pied Piper – A Hip-Hop Dance Revolution. In 2010, he was in the music video for the N-Dubz song "We Dance On". In July 2011, Akai was a judge on a talent show for the Disney Channel. The show was called Shake It Up Dance Dance. One of his most famous roles was playing Nero in the CBBC show 4 O'Clock Club. He started as a regular character in Series 3 and became a main character from Series 4 to Series 7. He also made a special appearance in Series 8.
