Albion is a town in Orleans County, New York, United States. It is located in the middle of the county. In 2020, about 7,639 people lived there. The town is named after the village of Albion, which is mostly located within the town's borders.
The Town of Albion includes most of the village of Albion. This village is the county seat, meaning it's where the main government offices for Orleans County are. A small part of the village is in the nearby town of Gaines.

History of Albion Town
The Town of Albion was formed in 1875. It was created when the Town of Barre was divided. In 1890, the town had a population of 1,304 people.
A special place called Mount Albion Cemetery was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. This means it's recognized as an important historical site.
Geography and Location
Albion covers about 25.4 square miles (65.7 square kilometers) in total. Most of this area, about 25.2 square miles (65.3 square kilometers), is land. A small part, about 0.1 square mile (0.3 square kilometers), is water.
The famous Erie Canal flows right through the town. This canal is a historic waterway used for shipping.
Several important roads cross through Albion. New York State Route 31A and New York State Route 98 meet near the southern edge of the town. Also, New York State Route 31 runs from east to west across the town.

Albion has a type of climate called a hot-summer humid continental climate. This means it has warm, humid summers and cold winters.
The hottest temperature ever recorded in Albion was 101°F (38°C). This happened on August 26, 1948, September 3, 1953, and July 8, 1988. The coldest temperature recorded was -20°F (-29°C) on February 18, 1979.
