About Alexander Nevzorov
Nevzorov was born on August 3, 1958, in Leningrad, which is now Saint Petersburg. His mother was Russian. On his biological father’s side, he has family roots from the Comanche tribe, a Native American group.
Early Career in Television
He began working for Leningrad television in 1985. From 1987 to 1993, he hosted a popular TV show called 600 Seconds. This show was broadcast across the entire Soviet Union. In 1990, he faced danger during a meeting. His show later became less popular and was eventually stopped in 1993. During a political event in 1991, Nevzorov supported one side of the conflict. He also started a group called the Nashi movement.
Reporting and Politics
Nevzorov worked as a reporter during the Yugoslav Wars and the Transnistria War in the early 1990s.

In 1993, Nevzorov was elected as a deputy (a representative) to the State Duma of the Russian Federation. He was re-elected three more times as an independent deputy. He served in the Duma until 2007. He also advised Vladimir Yakovlev, who was the Governor (mayor) of Saint Petersburg, on film, TV, and radio matters.
In 1994, Nevzorov supported the start of the First Chechen War. Later, in 1997, he directed a TV film about this war called Chistilishche (which means "Purgatory"). As the war continued, his opinions changed. He became doubtful about Russian expansion and expressed regret for his earlier strong nationalist views. He said that he had explored certain ideas in a mild way and later realized they were not right.
In 2003, Nevzorov worked with the ORT TV channel. He often appeared as a political expert on a news show. In 2012, he supported Vladimir Putin during his presidential campaign.
Views on Ukraine
In 2014, Nevzorov spoke out against Russia taking over Crimea.
In a video from April 2021, Nevzorov predicted that a future Russian invasion of Ukraine would happen. He said it would be a sad event for Russia and that Ukrainians would fight back strongly.
After the Russian invasion of Ukraine began, Nevzorov continued to speak out. He published information about events in Ukraine, such as the shelling of a hospital in Mariupol. He stated that he believed the government was not going to be easy on anyone who tried to understand the conflict. Nevzorov's wife, Lidia, shared that her husband was in Israel.
In April 2022, the Russian government added Nevzorov to a list of people considered to be "foreign agents."
In June 2022, Nevzorov and his wife, Lidia, applied for Ukrainian citizenship. On June 3, Nevzorov and the Ukrainian State Migration Service confirmed that they had received Ukrainian citizenship.
