Alexis (full name Alexis Ebert) is an American country pop/rock singer from Albany, Oregon. She is best known for "The Real Me". It is a song on the soundtrack for the 2004 movie Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. She has opened for more well known singers including Keith Urban, Tracy Byrd and Sawyer Brown.

Career

Alexis has been performing since she was six years old. She wrote her first song, titled "Forever," in 1996. Her mother, Cheryl Ebert, helped her write it. At age eight, she sang for President Bill Clinton at a Democratic fundraiser in Oregon.

Her most well-known song, "The Real Me", was written for Disney's The Lizzie McGuire Movie. When the recording was not finished in time for the movie, Disney chose to keep the song so they could use it in another movie in the future. They chose to use it in Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen which starred Lindsay Lohan.

Alexis continues to write new music and performs over 100 shows a year.

Stage name

Alexis chose to not user her surname for performing for two reasons. When she began performing at such a young age, her parents were worried about privacy problems that could be caused by using her last name. Since then, however, Alexis has not changed her stage name to include her surname because she likes just having one name. She compares it to icons such as Madonna and Cher.
