Alfred Michaud (born November 6, 1976) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. He is an Ojibwe person. Michaud played junior hockey and then for the Maine Black Bears in college. He even won a national championship with them! Michaud became a professional player in 1999 with the Vancouver Canucks' team in the American Hockey League (AHL), the Syracuse Crunch. He played two games for the Canucks in 1999. He finished his playing career in Denmark's top ice hockey league. Today, he is an assistant coach for his old college team, the Black Bears. He also runs a goalie school called Dream Catcher's Hockey.

Michaud's Hockey Journey

Alfred Michaud was never chosen in the NHL draft. But he signed a professional contract with the Vancouver Canucks in 1999. This happened after he had a great time playing for the University of Maine. There, he had an impressive record of 28 wins, 6 losses, and 3 ties. His goals-against average (GAA) was 2.32, which is very good for a goalie.

Starting Professional Hockey

In his first professional season, Michaud played 38 games for the Syracuse Crunch. This team was linked to the Vancouver Canucks in the AHL. He was called up to the Canucks for two games because some players were injured. He made his first NHL appearance on October 28 against the Phoenix Coyotes. His second and last NHL game was on November 7 against the St. Louis Blues. For the next two seasons, he kept playing in minor professional leagues. However, he did not get another chance to play in the NHL.

Playing Overseas

The Canucks released Michaud in 2002. After that, he played for several teams in the ECHL. These teams included the Reading Royals, Peoria Rivermen, and Utah Grizzlies. He then moved overseas to play in Europe. He played for the Fischtown Pinguins in Germany. Later, he joined SønderjyskE in Denmark.

During the 2010–11 season in Denmark, he set an amazing record. He played for 360 minutes and 58 seconds without letting in a single goal. The old record in Denmark was 242 minutes. This shows how skilled he was as a goalie!
