Alice Dinnean (born May 23, 1969) is an American puppeteer, writer, and voice actress. She is well-known for her work with The Jim Henson Company. Alice has brought many characters to life on popular children's TV shows. These include Sesame Street, Bear in the Big Blue House, and Sid the Science Kid. She also worked on other TV shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Alice Dinnean's Career

Alice Dinnean's journey into puppetry began when she was young. She won a pig puppet as a prize in an essay contest in Oakland, California. This sparked her interest in bringing puppets to life.

Early Work and Training

After studying at Oberlin College, Alice gained experience at Puppetry Arts in Atlanta, Georgia. In the early 1990s, she joined The Jim Henson Company. This was a big step for her career.

Working with the Muppets

Alice became a key performer for the famous children's TV series, Sesame Street. She performed several characters on the show. For example, she was Sherry Netherland, who owned the Furry Arms Hotel. She also played Phoebe, a character from the Monster Clubhouse, from 2001 to 2003.

Alice has also worked on other children's shows. These include The Puzzle Place, Big Bag, and Cousin Skeeter. She helped create characters for Jim Henson's Pajanimals and Jack's Big Music Show.

Beyond Children's Shows

Besides her work with Muppets, Alice has performed in other productions. On the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, she performed as a demon puppet. She also brought a living mummy hand to life in another episode. Later, she performed the puppet-like character of Angel in the episode Smile Time of the show Angel.

Alice (sometimes known as Alice Dinnean-Vernon) also performed Mary on the Emmy-winning children's series, Jack's Big Music Show. This show was created by fellow Sesame Street puppeteer David Rudman.

Writing and Recent Projects

In 2007, Alice began writing episodes for the Disney Junior show, Bunnytown. She also performed characters on the show. She performed Cowbella in the music videos for Pajanimals, which aired on the Sprout channel.

In September 2017, Alice was an additional Muppet performer. She joined a live show called The Muppets Take the Bowl at the Hollywood Bowl. She continues to live in Laurel Canyon, Los Angeles, California.
