Alicia Jayne Coutts (born September 14, 1987) is an amazing Australian swimmer. She is known for her skills in butterfly, freestyle, and medley races. Alicia proudly represented Australia in the 2008 Summer Olympics and 2012 Summer Olympics. She also competed in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
At the 2012 London Olympics, Alicia won five medals! This incredible achievement matched the record of other famous Australian swimmers like Ian Thorpe and Shane Gould. Only Emma McKeon has won more medals in a single Olympics for Australia.
Early Life and School
Alicia Coutts was born in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. She went to St Matthews Primary School. Later, she attended Chisholm Catholic College.
Swimming Career
Olympic Games
Alicia Coutts competed in three Olympic Games.
2008 Beijing Olympics
At the 2008 Summer Olympics, Alicia swam in the 200-meter individual medley. She finished in fifth place.
2012 London Olympics
The 2012 Summer Olympics were a huge success for Alicia.
- On the first night, she won a gold medal in the 4×100-meter freestyle relay. She swam with Cate Campbell, Brittany Elmslie, and Melanie Schlanger. They even set a new Olympic record!
- The next night, she earned a bronze medal in the 100-meter butterfly.
- She then won a silver medal in the 200-meter individual medley.
- Later, she helped her team win another silver medal in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay.
- On the final night, she took home a silver medal in the 4×100-meter medley relay.
In total, Alicia won one gold, three silver, and one bronze medal at these Games.
2016 Rio Olympics
At the 2016 Summer Olympics, Alicia Coutts finished fifth in the 200-meter individual medley final. She announced her retirement from swimming in October 2016.

2010 Commonwealth Games
At the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, Alicia won five gold medals:

- 100-meter freestyle

She was chosen to carry the Australian flag at the closing ceremony of the Games. She was also named the Telstra Australian Swimmer of the Year for 2010.

At the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Alicia continued her success:
- She won gold in the 4×100-meter freestyle relay.
- She won gold in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay.
- She won gold in the 4×100-meter medley relay.
