After college, Allison went to Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. This is a very famous cooking school. She earned her Grand Diplôme there, which is a special cooking degree. While in Paris, she also worked at Restaurant Arpège. This is a top restaurant run by chef Alain Passard.

Early Career in Restaurants

When she returned to the United States, Allison worked for famous chef Bobby Flay. She helped manage the food and drinks at his New York restaurants, Mesa Grill and Bolo. Later, she planned special events for Tentation Special Events Catering.

Working with Martha Stewart

In 2002, Allison joined Everyday Food magazine. This magazine was part of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. This job helped her start her TV career. She became a regular on the Everyday Food TV show.

Allison Clapp's parents are Patricia G. Lewis and Dr. Randall J. Lewis. Her father is a surgeon and a professor at George Washington University. Her mother is a lawyer in Washington, D.C..

Allison has a famous ancestor! Her great-great grandfather was Adam Gimbel. He started the famous department store chain called Gimbels. He also ran other stores, like Saks Fifth Avenue.

In 2007, Allison married Andrew Todd Clapp. He works for an investment company in New York City. They live in Manhattan's Greenwich Village.
