Alma is a city in Wisconsin, United States. It is the main town, or county seat, of Buffalo County. In 2020, about 716 people lived there.

History of Alma
Alma was named after a famous battle. This battle was called the Battle of Alma. It happened during the Crimean War.
Geography and Climate
Alma is located on State Route 35. It is about 6 miles (9.7 km) east of Wabasha, Minnesota.
Land and Water
The city covers a total area of about 7.9 square miles (20.5 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 5.31 square miles (13.75 square kilometers), is land. The rest, about 2.59 square miles (6.72 square kilometers), is covered by water.
Alma's Climate
Alma has a type of climate called a hot-summer humid continental climate. This means it has warm, humid summers and cold winters. The highest temperature ever recorded in Alma was 101°F (38°C) on June 11, 1956. The lowest temperature ever recorded was -38°F (-39°C) on January 31, 1996.

2010 Census Details
In 2010, there were 781 people living in Alma. There were 386 households, which are groups of people living together. About 17.1% of these households had children under 18. Many households (41.7%) were married couples. The average age in the city was 50.3 years old.
Economy and Attractions

Alma has some interesting attractions. The Great Alma Fishing Float is a popular spot for visitors. It's especially busy when walleye fish are running. This float is right next to Lock & Dam Number 4 on the Mississippi River.
Wildlife and Museums
The area around Lock & Dam Number 4 is a major nesting place for bald eagles. You can often see these majestic birds from the riverbank in Alma. Also in Alma, you can visit the Castlerock Museum. This museum has a collection of old weapons and armor. These items come from Roman times up to the Middle Ages.
