Alon Abutbul was born in Kiryat Ata, Israel. His family had roots in Egypt and Algeria. He went to the Thelma Yellin High School of Arts in Givatayim. His older brother, Avraham Abutbul, was also an actor.

Alon Abutbul was in a relationship with Israeli director Shir Bilya. They had four children together.
His Passing
Alon Abutbul passed away on July 29, 2025. He collapsed while visiting Dor-HaBonim Beach in Israel. He was 60 years old. At the time of his passing, he was planning to start filming a new TV series.
