Ameera Shah (born on September 24, 1979) is a successful Indian entrepreneur. She is the Executive Chairperson and Whole-time Director of Metropolis Healthcare. This is a major company that provides medical diagnostic tests in India and Africa. Ameera is the daughter of Dr. Sushil Shah, who started Metropolis Healthcare.
She has received many awards for her work. In 2015, the World Economic Forum named her a Young Global Leader. She was also on Fortune India's "Most Powerful Women in Business" list several times. In 2018, Forbes India featured her in their "Tycoons of Tomorrow" list. She also won the Ernst & Young ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ Award in healthcare for 2021.

Ameera Shah studied commerce at H.R. College in Mumbai. She then went to the University of Texas at Austin in the United States. There, she earned a degree in finance.
After her studies, she worked at Goldman Sachs, a big financial company in New York. Later, she completed a special business program at Harvard Business School. Ameera is a well-known speaker. She has shared her knowledge at many important events and conferences. These include events at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, Harvard Business School, TED, and CII.
Career Journey
Leading Metropolis Healthcare
In 2001, Ameera Shah took over her father's medical testing business, Metropolis Lab. At that time, it was a single lab with a small income and about 40 employees. Ameera worked hard to transform it into Metropolis Healthcare. This company grew into a large international chain. It now has 125 diagnostic labs, much higher earnings, and 4,500 employees. In April 2019, she successfully led the company to be listed on the stock market. This means people can buy shares in the company.

Ameera Shah is also a Board Member of Marico Kaya Enterprises Limited. She is the Managing Director of Metropolis Healthcare Limited. She also works as an Independent Director for companies like Torrent Pharmaceuticals Limited, Shoppers Stop Limited, and Kaya Limited. She advises the Baylor College of Medicine. She is also part of the global advisory board for AXA, a large insurance company.
She has also served as the secretary of the Indian Association of Pathology Laboratories (IAPL). In 2012, she was a co-chairperson for the Health Services Committee of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

Ameera Shah was born to Dr. Sushil Shah and Dr. Duru Shah. Her father is a pathologist, who studies diseases. Her mother is a gynaecologist, a doctor for women's health. Her older sister, Aparna Shah, is a geneticist, who studies genes. Ameera is married to Hemant Sachdev, who is also an Indian entrepreneur. He is a non-executive director at Metropolis Healthcare. In March 2020, Ameera and Hemant had a baby boy named Karma.
