Amido Baldé CvIH (born May 16, 1991) is a former professional footballer. He played as a forward, which is an attacking position on the field.
Amido began his football journey with Sporting CP in Portugal. He was often sent to other teams on a temporary basis, called a "loan." He helped Vitória de Guimarães win the Portuguese Cup in 2013. Later, in 2013, he joined Celtic in Scotland.
After his time at Celtic, he played for Metz in France. He also played for Benfica Luanda in Angola. In 2016, he returned to Portugal to play for Marítimo. In recent years, Amido played for many different clubs. These included teams in Albania, Libya, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
Amido Baldé played for Portugal's youth teams. He helped the under-20 team reach second place at the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup. In 2014, he chose to play for the senior national team of his home country, Guinea-Bissau.

Amido's Club Journey
Starting with Sporting CP
Amido Baldé was born in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau. He started his football career at Sporting de Bissau. This was a team linked to Sporting CP in Portugal. In 2008, he moved to Lisbon to continue his training with Sporting CP. He helped their youth teams win championships. He scored 13 goals in 29 games during the 2008–09 season.
In the 2010–11 season, Amido played his first games as a senior player. He was loaned to Santa Clara in Portugal's second league. He also played for Badajoz in Spain. Still owned by Sporting, he then joined Cercle Brugge in Belgium for the 2011–12 season.
Playing for Vitória Guimarães
Sporting CP released Amido in the summer of 2012. On August 28, he signed a two-year contract with Primeira Liga team Vitória de Guimarães. He played his first game on September 21, coming on as a late substitute. His team won 1–0 against Moreirense.
Amido scored his first goal for the club on November 23. He scored a goal in injury time, making the game a 2–2 draw against Beira-Mar. He played in 37 matches in all competitions during his only season with the team. This included seven games in the Taça de Portugal, which is Portugal's main cup competition.
He helped Vitória de Guimarães win the tournament for the first time ever. He was replaced in the 90th minute of the final against Benfica. Vitória won that game 2–1.
Time with Celtic
On June 13, 2013, Amido signed a four-year contract with Scottish Premier League champions Celtic. He was excited to join "one of the best clubs in Europe." He made his first official appearance on July 23. This was in a Champions League qualifier against Cliftonville.
Amido scored his first goal for Celtic on September 28, 2013. He came on as a substitute and scored the last goal in a 5–2 win against Kilmarnock. On October 27, he scored the winning goal against Partick Thistle. He played in 20 league games that season, mostly as a substitute. His only other goal came in a 4–0 win over Kilmarnock in January 2014.
On September 1, 2014, Amido joined Waasland-Beveren in Belgium on a loan. He scored a great goal from 40 yards out in his debut game. This was his only goal for the club. In January 2015, he went on another loan to Hapoel Tel Aviv in Israel. He played 11 games there but did not score. In June 2015, Celtic ended Amido's contract early.
Moving to Metz
On July 16, 2015, Amido signed a two-year deal with Metz in France. They played in Ligue 2, which is the second division. He played his first game on August 1, a 0–0 draw against Lens. Amido did not score any goals during his time at Metz. He played in nine official games for the club.
Playing in Angola and Portugal
After leaving Metz, Amido moved to Angola on January 14, 2016. He joined Benfica de Luanda. In his only season there, he scored six goals. This helped his team finish sixth in the Girabola league. He left the club in August 2016.
In August 2016, Amido returned to Portugal and European football. He signed with Marítimo. In March 2017, while on loan to Tondela, he had to go to the hospital. He was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism, a serious health issue. Marítimo stopped paying him, saying they didn't have to since he couldn't play. He needed help from the players' union to support his family. By the end of 2017, he was still not fully healthy.
Later Career Travels
On February 1, 2018, Amido signed a six-month contract with Albanian Superliga team Kukësi. He played his first game in 11 months on February 13. This was in the Albanian Cup. His first league game was on February 19.
After a short time in Libya with Al-Nasr, Amido moved to Indonesia in February 2019. He joined Persebaya. He scored five goals in nine games in the Liga 1. This included three goals in one game (a hat-trick) on July 5, 2019. He also scored ten goals in the Piala Indonesia cup tournament. He was the joint top scorer in that competition.
Later in 2019, Amido signed for another Indonesian club, PSM. He scored on his debut for PSM. In January 2020, Amido moved to Vietnam to play for Ho Chi Minh City. He played his first game on January 21 in the AFC Champions League. He scored three goals in the AFC Cup group stages. His first goal in the V.League 1 came on June 23.
By August 2020, Amido had scored six goals in 14 games for Ho Chi Minh City. The club wanted to loan him to other teams, but he refused. Because of this, his contract was ended by agreement.
International Football
Amido Baldé first chose to play for Portugal internationally. He was part of the under-20 squad. This team finished second at the 2011 FIFA World Cup in Colombia. However, he only played for seven minutes in that tournament.
In May 2014, Amido decided to play for Guinea-Bissau, the country where he was born. He was called up for a qualifier match. He earned his first "cap" (played his first game) for Guinea-Bissau on June 13, 2015. This was a 0–0 draw against Zambia.
Amido scored his only goal for Guinea-Bissau on October 8, 2015. It was in a World Cup qualifier against Liberia. The game ended in a 1–1 draw.
