Life and Music Journey
Early Life and Start in Music (1993–2014)
Aminata Savadogo was born in Riga, Latvia. Her mother has Latvian and Russian roots, and her father is from Burkina Faso. Aminata sees herself as mainly Latvian.
She started singing when she was 13 years old. She also learned to play the flute and graduated from a music and art school. When she was 15, she appeared on a Latvian TV show called Krodziņā pie Paula. Later, at 17, she took part in Muzikālā banka. She also joined the Golden Choir in Koru kari 3, which is Latvia's version of Clash of the Choirs.
Aminata gained more attention when she competed in Dziesma 2014. This show chooses Latvia's song for the Eurovision Song Contest. Her song was "I Can Breathe". She made it to the final and finished in fifth place. After that, Aminata won another Latvian TV show called Jaunā talantu fabrika. A famous Latvian singer named Dons was a judge on that show. He later became her mentor and worked with her in the recording studio.
Eurovision Success and First Album (2015–2016)

In 2015, Aminata tried again for Eurovision. She entered Supernova 2015 with her song "Love Injected". She won the final on February 22, 2015. This meant she would represent Latvia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015. Her first studio album, Inner Voice, was released on April 8, 2015.
At Eurovision, Aminata performed in the second semi-final. She did very well, finishing second with 155 points. This was the first time Latvia had qualified for the final in seven years! In the grand final, she performed and ended up in sixth place out of 27 countries. She earned 186 points and received the top score of 12 points from three different countries. This was Latvia's best result since 2005.
Aminata also writes songs for other artists. She wrote "Heartbeat" for Justs, who represented Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016.
New Music and TV Shows (2016–Present)
On February 28, 2016, Aminata performed her new song "Fighter" during the final of Supernova 2016. The music video for "Fighter" came out on April 13.
Her second album, Red Moon, was released in October 2016. She also competed on the Russian TV show Golos, which is like The Voice. She joined the team of Polina Gagarina, another singer who competed in Eurovision 2015. Aminata was eliminated in the knockout round.
Aminata continued to write songs for other artists. She wrote "I'm Like a Wolf" for Lithuanian singer Aistė Pilvelytė. In 2020, she co-wrote "Still Breathing" with Samanta Tīna. This song was chosen to represent Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020. However, the contest was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Samanta Tīna was then chosen to represent Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. Her song, "The Moon Is Rising", was also co-written by Aminata.
In September 2021, Aminata worked with DJ Rudd to co-write a song for Dons called "Tas rakstīts debesīs (Piena ceļš)". This song was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2022 Latvian Music Recording Awards.
